Xbox One Continuing saved game after switching from disc to digital download

My son has a Minecraft disc that has stopped being read by his xbox one so he can no longer play the game. No obvious sign of damage to the face of the disc and all other game discs work without issue.

I'm looking to replace the disc but also wondering about getting a digital download version instead?

If I go digital, will his saved worlds still exist or will he lose them when installing the digital version?

Any help/advice appreciated.

He will keep all his saved progress, as long as the same Xbox network account is used to buy the digital game.
