Microsoft confirmed some details about the machine’s multi-tasking abilities and more.

The firm was demonstrating the console’s somewhat less known features to Destructoid. Microsoft’s Albert Penello’s reportedly showed the console’s ability to run four applications simultaneously. It’ll only run one game at at a time, rather obviously. Switching between apps is similar to mobile functionality, with the OS allowing you to choose between boxes represent apps or games on the home screen. Xbox One will support multiple sign-ins, with up to six users live at once. Kinect will decide the leader based on who’s holding the controller. Kinect will also recognize your voice among others in the room and launch games with your saves and settings. Furthermore, Kinect will allow you to sign-in by just waving your hands, and will then pull all your details and saves from the cloud to the console.

Well this has been quite the morning for small news tidbits. This had all been rumored, but it's nice to finally have Microsoft releasing official information.

EDIT: I think the post has been misunderstood. The XB1 is not allowing 6 people to play simultaneously, just 6 people to be logged in. The split screen still only allows 4 players, but if you have more than 3 friends over then whenever a different friend picks up the controller the Kiunect will recognize them and know which of the 6 logged in accounts to associate with that controller. This allows for achievements and the rest to be given to the proper gamertag.

I love it and can't wait to get it :)

That is an awesome new feature to have. I can't wait to get my hands on an Xbox One. The new log in for six users to log in simultaneously, is completely awesome.

Another reason for people to get the Xbox One. This sounds great and really piques my interest. I'm so glad they allow more players to play simultaneously. It's pretty awkward just sitting there and watching your friends play waiting for your turn.

Damn, six users? Who needs, or even wants to have that many users logged in at the same time? Doesn't that make the privacy a little non-existent?

It allows 6 accounts to be signed in to XBOX LIVE not 6 players to be playing. That part is still limited to 4 players for a split screen game, unless its a single screen multiplayer game.

Can you imagine? You're on Live and then your idiotic brother starts hitting apps and then his idiot friend starts trying to hit apps and... is there are way to block other people from logging on and messing with stuff? Any way at all? Also how big are the televisions people are playing on? I hope it's huge because otherwise this sounds more like a negative than a positive.

I think you misunderstood the question. Esperahol is concerned about someone not playing or invited to play picking up a controller and messing with apps and so on.
Is it only the person playing that can control apps, etc?
