I just received an email from GameStop with the promotion of buying new Xbox 360 games of Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, Call of Duty: Ghosts, Battlefield 4, FIFA 14, and Madden 25 and trading up to the new Xbox One standard version of the same game for only $9.99 later.

This is great for me because I had planned on just getting GTA V for now and later on upgrading to the Xbox One console when there's more available and more games out. This will allow me to get Call of Duty and Battlefield, and upgrade them cheaper for the Xbox One when I'm ready.

How
  1. You must be a PowerUp Rewards member at the time of new Xbox 360 game purchase.
  2. You must purchase the new version of eligible Xbox 360 game within the first 30 days of its release at GameStop.
  3. Following the purchase of an eligible game, you will receive the guaranteed $50.00 trade-credit coupon via email** and in your PowerUp Rewards Active Offers.
  4. Bring the in-store credit coupon with your game to trade toward the new Xbox One standard version of the same game at any U.S. GameStop location.

Redemption of the coupon must occur by December 31, 2013.

*Xbox One Trade Offer: Offer available to PowerUp Rewards members only. Eligible Xbox 360 game(s) must be purchased within 30 days of release. Release dates and offer eligibility dates for Xbox 360 versions vary by game, and are subject to change. Madden 25, purchase 8/27/13 through 9/26/13. FIFA 14, purchase 9/24/13 through 10/24/13. Coupon will be digitally distributed after purchase. Coupon required at time of trade. Limit 1 coupon per game per customer. Customer may be responsible for sales tax. Net credit after promotion is $50.00 and must be applied toward a new copy of the Xbox One standard version of the Xbox 360 game(s) being traded. After promotion, cost to the customer will be $9.99 or less before tax, where applicable, for the Xbox One standard version; offer is not valid toward additional add-on content, like DLC, or non-standard versions of game. Eligible game(s) must be traded in the same transaction as the purchase of an eligible new game(s). Not valid toward cash trades. Offer valid only when eligible items are traded. Trades must be in full working condition to receive full value. Defective items may be eligible for trade at a lesser value. Trades subject to manager approval. Offer valid only toward items normally accepted in trade. Cannot be combined with any other offer. See store associate for details. No dealers. Offer valid in the United States, Puerto Rico and Guam only. Void where prohibited. GameStop, Inc. reserves the right to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the offer for any reason without notice. Offer expires 12/31/13.

Are you kidding me? It seems like a great compelling offer to me. I always wanted to preorder GTA V for my 360, but I know that next gen version is going to far far better than current-gen version. So, I was waiting for the Xbox One to hit the market. But now that they have offered to trade in next gen version of any game for just $9.99, I am going to press the pre-order button as soon as I can. Now where is my credit card?

People are pretty sure that GTA V will be released on the next generation of consoles. Why is that if Rockstar doesn't usually do stuff like that? Was there a San Andreas for the PS3? No, there are always two games for one generation, and then they jump to the next one. We have GTA IV and now going to have GTA V, and then Rockstar will jump to the next one.

This is a great deal and for those that are achievement hunters you might want to take this offer up as Xbox 360 and Xbox One games will earn gamerscore separately so you can get double the gamerscore for $10 extra.

The game launches next month and people still believe that they're going to release GTA V for Xbox One, PS4 and PC. Its possible, at a later time. It would explain the reason they delayed the release from last Spring till September. But they would have announced it by now if they had intentions of releasing a version at the same time as Xbox 360 and PS3 versions.
