Roleplaying is a pretty popular thing to due in Bethesda games. Do you do it? I personally don't, I'm all about the gameplay and could care less about the lore, I just like blowing up enemies with fireballs and lightning.. How about you?

I love roleplaying, although I admit I haven't really tried it in a console game. I mostly RP in forum communities, or here and there on MMOs.

Whenever I play an RPG, though, I like to create a "persona" for my character and make sure to make choices that match that character. It makes unlocking the endings in games like Dragon Age so much more satisfying.

I would have to say that I do but only for RPG's that really get me immersed in the story. As Ersatz said I find myself creating a character and trying to stick with the how that character should act, so while I might enjoy one choice more I experince a more interesting story because I feel my character is much for involved.
I can't say I roleplay much at all outside of those games but I guess I did when I talked to a girl I used to be interested in.

I think a lot of story-based roleplaying is very female-oriented for some reason. I have friends that RP extensively on Guild Wars, and they keep trying to get me into it, but I don't know that I have the time and patience to invest in another MMO, especially if I'm just there to RP.

Not really. I've considered going down that route in the form of training my characters to only be good at specific things (as in sticking to a self-forced class system) but in a game like Skyrim, I find that I usually just train everything and become a demi-god.

If/when I break the game out again though, I'll probably try a more focused approach, and see how it goes. I don't roleplay in the sense you're talking about though; that doesn't really appeal to me.

I wouldnt say i get into the role 100 percent. I do love playing some RPG's though

When i used to play Diablo II heavily, my character was a Necromancer who got by more on brute strength and homies than on spells. I rolled around with a two handed sword, awesome palladin style armor, 8 skeletons and a clay golem.

I do, and it drives my brother in law nuts. He wonders why I play a character who builds up their alchemy skills, and picks all the herbs she finds. He just likes running around knocking people's heads off with a warhammer.

I roleplay my main character and try to stick to the strict guideline like jardantuan mentioned. If I wanted to just blitz through killing everything I'd play Dynasty Warriors or something. When I roleplay a character it's typically in a game like Elder Scrolls, Dragon Age, and to a degree Fallout. JRPGs are no good for it unless they're extremely non-linear and open world. I think Etrian Odyssey is the only one I do that in.

I used to roleplay my character, but now I just play the game and enjoy. It wasn't a hassle or anything, just frequently forgot that I was roleplaying.

Never roleplayed my character. Always wanted to, but my memory is like "I'm gonna be a pure thief and...BANDITS!"
