For those who don't know, Doritos and Mountain Dew are doing a promotion in which you get points for purchasing their products. You can use those points to bid on auctions for Xbox one Consoles bundled with a game. They also have limited edition consoles and other items.

Anyone who has gone on, have you won anything? I went on the other day after buying a bag of chips and seeing the promo on the bag. When I got on I saw that the average auction win was around 40,000 points (each big bag of doritios is worth 200). Seems crazy to me that people have that many points. Either they bought a ton of chips and soda or they figured out how to generate codes.

But the limited edition consoles that have are awesome, they have designs of Ryse, Forza or Dead Rising 3. The auction thing is a cool concept, but with the amount you have to pay for chips and soda to rack up enough points for an auction, you might as well just go out and buy a console.

That's a hundred packs. If guys cooperate and buy them like 20 per person looks realistic. haha
But the auction is indeed a cool idea for XBox to promote its console and for the food companies to deliver perfect sales.

lol. I imagine that amount of doritos being eaten. 100 packs, damn. it's like a 0.5 bottle of fat. and finish it with some mountain dew, be a typical teen haha
But seriously, who would go for a thing like that?

I like me some doritos, but a hundred packs would be quite something!

I wonder what the odds of someone here winning is. I just can't imagine being lucky enough to actually do it. I've tried those coke points for years with no luck haha. I never win a darn thing. I've read about people claiming they have though.

Well its an auction not a contest. You just need to outbid people. They did this for 360 too i had a coworker who won.

This is still very hard to win this. You will need to buy hundreds of doritos packs to get a chance of winning one.

Believe it or not, there are a lot of ppl out there that do just that. Easy for them to rack up points.

Well, you can either buy the Xbox One, or you can buy a bunch of Doritos that will hopefully pay for the Xbox One. I can see the logic in participating in such a promotion. You could end up freerolling a bunch of Doritos. What does the math look like? 200 points per bag, ~200 bags is the average auction price. So if the price of a bag is, say, 4 dollars, that's 800 bucks for an Xbox and 200 bags of chips. Now this is very loose math because I don't actually know what the prices are. And there is the variability that comes with an auction if someone wants to out bid you. Nonetheless, it seems like a solid method, and since the average price is 40,000 points, that means some people are winning auctions with less than that.

And what if there are discounts for buying Doritos/Mountain Dew in such large bulk quantities? You might end up with a legitimate deal.

I absolutely love the way such topics can make people post such detailed and calculative posts. haha

I'll stick to my preorder... Much easier and I don't have to gain weight trying to score one.

lol. I bet its impossible to win such a contest on your own. Its way to much chips and soda. damn haha

Unless you're an addict, you probably won't be able to win.

You would spend twice as much money then the X1 costs on medical insurance because of that amount of junk food :\

Haha! That was good! Thankfully I wasn't laughing while eating Doritos and drinking Mountain Dew!

I can tell you that the promotion in 2005 was not an auction. The promotion was actually drawings every 10 minutes. I won the system before release date. They sent it out overnight.I was very lucky.. The XBOX One promotion was actually much different they added Doritos and other products to get you to get more points. I was lucky enough to win the system and yet have not received it.. I won on December the 8th and it has been 9 weeks. This sucks not getting the system yet. They are very slow on shipping the system out. It should not of taken this long to receive the item.

Yes I have won with over 67,000 Points.. I was lucky to outbid the other person at the very last 5 sec in which I placed my points -- all of them which I had over 71,000 and then WON...
