Favourite sandbox genres?

Much like the car simulators or whatnot, sandbox is definitely one of my favourite genres of games as it lets me freely explore the land and whatnot. The most mainstream game I can think of is Minecraft, however, it is one of my favourite sandbox games.

Another game that seems very contentious for that title has to be Rust or DayZ. All those game having free-roaming capabilities and interactions unique to most genres of games, makes its very good contenders for great sandbox games.

Yes! I too love playing sandbox games, gives you the freedom you can't have in the real world. I love games like GTA and Saints Row where you can just roam around the city on different types of vehicles and just go crazy. I also love Minecraft and Rust.

I like Minecraft, but I've been playing Starbound more often lately.
