Xbox One Fortnite

Hi my son has xbox live account.. what I would like help with is.. that he wants to sell his xbox one but hed like to keep his fortnite acc as he uses it on his PC and hes afraid if I delete all my personal details off xbox hes worried that all of his characters and the game in the game you buy are going to be deleted.. at the moment he hasn't used xbox hes been playing on his PC.. can he keep everything on fortnite without a xbox live subscription.
