Gears of War: Judgment Achievement Guide

Introduction

Gears of War Judgment is another great game in Gears of War franchise and happens to be a prequel to all the previous chapters. The Judgment Campaign itself is not that big and you will be able to complete it rather quickly. But at the same time in order to unlock all the achievements you will have to play the game for a few times that, of course, makes things look a bit different and increases the number of hours you will spend playing the game. On the top of that you will have to pick up all the collectibles (COT Tags) and play all the bonus (Declassified) missions. Most of them will come to you naturally but others will be hidden from your eyes, so make sure you use the collectible guide to get them all.
On the complexity scale I would give this game and its achievements 7 points. Some of those are really easy to get and will come to you naturally as you progress through the game. But there are a few that will require you to become a real addict and spend lots of hours going for this or that achievement. In order to complete them all, you will have to spend at least 45 hours. But, there is one called “War Supporter” that will make you wait up to 30 weeks and check in the game every week to see if there’s a new event available.
39 of the achievements below can be obtained offline while the other 11 will require you to go online and play with other players. It is also important to mention that you will have to play the game at least 2 times: the first one on any difficulty (though, Hardcore is recommended) and the next one on insane Difficulty. You won’t be able to play the game on Insane difficulty right away as far as the first playthrough is required to unlock the Insane.
Below are the achievements for Gears of War Judgment, along with the number of achievement points you’ll receive and a summary on how to get each achievement.
For more information on particular achievements and collectibles you can also check out the side threads:

In order to unlock Chapter 7 Aftermath, you will have to obtain at least 40 stars through your Judgment Campaign (Chapter 1-6). The good news is that all stars, be it gold, silver or bronze, will count towards the total number and your achievement. Chapter 7 Aftermath contains no Declassified Missions and can be played on any difficulty which does make things easier. After all, Aftermath is the longest Chapter in the game.

Determined.jpgDetermined – (10 G)
Completed all Campaign Chapters on at least Casual difficulty

This game has 4 Difficulty levels and you are supposed to complete it on all of them. Casual difficulty is recommended for those players who are not familiar with this type of game but still would like to enjoy all its beauties. Playing on Casual difficulty will open an opportunity to finish the game on Insane difficulty but unlike playing on Hardcore, that unlocks three difficulty related achievements, this one will unlock only the “Determined” achievement itself.

Steel Nerves.jpgSteel Nerves – (10 G)
Completed all Campaign Chapters on at least Normal difficulty

This game has 4 Difficulty levels and you are supposed to complete it on all of them. However, if you are familiar with this type of games, you can make an attempt to complete the game on Normal difficulty and if you success – you will unlock 2 achievements in a single playthrough which are:
- Determined (Casual difficulty);
- Steel Nerves (Normal difficulty);
You will get an opportunity to complete Gears of War: Judgment on Insane difficulty and unlock the Lion Heart achievement only if you complete the game on one of the easier difficulties.

Iron Fist.jpgIron Fist – (25 G)
Completed all Campaign Chapters on at least Hardcore difficulty

This game has 4 Difficulty levels and you are supposed to complete it on all of them. However, if you are familiar with this type of games, you can make an attempt to complete the game on Hardcore difficulty and if you success – you will unlock all four achievements in a single playthrough which are:
- Determined (Casual difficulty);
- Steel Nerves (Normal difficulty);
- Iron Fist (Hardcore difficulty);
- Lion Heart (Insane difficulty).
As for the Insane difficulty will become available only after you complete one of the easier difficulties (it doesn’t matter what difficulty in particular you are going to play on but to get yourself prepared I would recommend playing on normal).

Lion Heart.jpgLion Heart – (50 G)
Completed all Campaign Chapters on Insane difficulty

Insane difficulty is the hardest difficulty in the game and it will make you hate everything around while trying to complete the game on it. Though, in order to find it in the list of available difficulties you will be forced to complete the game at least once on any easier difficulty be it Casual, Normal or Hardcore. There is also a possibility to complete the game in Cooperative mode, but your companions will also be forced to have a successfully finished game on any of the difficulties mentioned. By all means, completing the game with friends and supportive people will make it a bit easier. At least – you will have someone watching your back. However, you will also need to complete the Declassified missions on Insane Difficulty which, of course, makes it even harder. On the top of that it is a must to have 3 Stars in every mission on this difficulty and the already mentioned Declassified Mission should really help you out in that.
I know that some games are claimed to be extremely hard to complete on equivalently hard difficulties but, in a real life, appear to be not that complicated. Unfortunately, Gears of War: Judgment is not one of those games and you will be forced to show your knowledge of the “French Dictionary” while completing it on Insane difficulty.

Party People.jpgParty People – (10 G)
Played any section in 4 player Co-Op

In order to complete this achievement, you will be forced to go online and become a member of a 4 player team. You can either invite your friends which will make the task a lot easier or you can search for random players and make an attempt to complete a section with them. It doesn’t matter what section and with whom you are going to play it as long as you play the section from the very beginning to the very end. If you enter in the middle of the section, it won’t count towards your achievement and you will be forced to play once more. If you are having troubles finding partners for cooperative mode, either search the forum for details or invite some via game menu.

Blood Brothers.jpgBlood Brothers – (50 G)
Completed all Campaign Chapters in Co-Op

You task is rather simple in here: you need to complete six chapters of the game in cooperative move. You can do it either with your friend or random gamers – it doesn’t matter. The good news is that having only one partner will be enough for the achievement. But – the more, the merrier! The only thing that really matters is that you have to play all these chapters from the very beginning to the very end. Here’s the list of Chapters you are supposed to complete:
1. The Museum of Military Glory
2. Halvo Bay Military Academy
3. Seahorse Hills
4. Onyx Point
5. Downtown Halvo Bay
6. The Courthouse
As for the “Aftermath” chapter, you are not supposed to complete it in cooperative mode to make it count towards the achievement. Only the six mentioned above are really important.

Challenge Accepted.jpgChallenge Accepted – (5 G)
Completed your first Declassified mission

All in all there are 42 Declassified missions and if you want to unlock this achievement, you will have to complete at least one of them. Declassified missions are not story related and can be missed through your natural progression. Well, in most cases they can be easily found and are not hidden at all (only in those rear cases when they meant to be hidden). In most cases Declassified Mission can be found at the beginning of every mission in Chapters 1-6 but this rule is very often broken, so, do not always count to get the side mission as you appear in every next location. Declassified missions are marked with a large glowing Crimson Omen sign and this sign makes them kind of hard to miss. In order to activate a Declassified mission, you need to walk up to one of the Crimson Omen signs and press the “X” button. Do not forget to read the description for every Declassified mission and do whatever it says. Otherwise, it might not count towards your achievements. For more information on Declassified missions you should check out the the "Gears of War: Judgment COG Tag & Declassified Mission Locations" post.

Completed at least 20 Declassified missions

All in all there are 42 Declassified missions and if you want to unlock this achievement, you will have to complete at least 20 of them. Declassified missions, as a rule, are not story related and can be missed through your natural progression. Well, in most cases they can be easily found and are not hidden at all (only in those rear cases when they meant to be hidden). In most cases Declassified Mission can be located at the beginning of every mission in Chapters 1-6 but this rule is very often broken, so, do not always count to get the side mission as you appear in every next location. Watched Aftermath teaser

In order to unlock this achievement, simply press the Pause on your Controller and go to the Maine Menu > Campaign > Aftermath > Teaser and choose to play the Teaser. You can either watch it from the very beginning to the very end or you can press “A” to play it and then back it out. It will still count towards the achievement. If not (which is really unlikely to happen) then in this case watch the whole teaser.

The Aftermath.jpgThe Aftermath – (20 G)
Unlocked Aftermath

Aftermath campaign won’t be at your disposal from the very beginning of the game. In order to start playing it you will have to collect at least 40 starts through your Judgment campaign. You are not supposed to have 40 golden stars to make it work: getting bronze, silver and gold will work too. If your playthrough is brilliant and you get 3 starts for every mission you complete, you should get the achievement mentioned after Mission 14. For any further questions on how to get 40 stars and not only, please refer to other achievements, including “Quality Soldiering.”

Rising Star.jpgRising Star – (10 G)
Attained 50 Stars on at least Casual Difficulty

To unlock this achievement, you will have to collect at least 50 stars while playing on Casual Difficulty. Taking the difficulty mode into consideration, this shouldn’t be a problem at all. But for more information check out the “Superstar” achievement.

Shooting Star.jpgShooting Star – (50 G)
Attained 100 Stars on at least Hardcore Difficulty

To unlock this achievement, you will have to collect at least 50 stars while playing on Hardcore Difficulty. But for more information check out the “Superstar” achievement.

Superstar.jpgSuperstar - (50 G)
Attained all Stars on Insane Difficulty

To unlock this achievement, you will have to collect all Stars while playing on Insane Difficulty. This won’t be an easy task and there is a great possibility that you will be forced to replay some chapters and missions at least a few times to make everything right and get what you came for. If you still do not know, you will have to complete the game on any other difficulty first (Casual, Normal, Hardcore) in order to make the Insane difficulty available. Only after that it will be at your disposal and you will get an opportunity to go for this achievement and unlock it. On the other hand, this is a good thing because after completing it once, you will know a lot more about locations, enemies, their moves and fighting strategies. This will make your life a bit easier but not as easy as you would assume. Also, through your playthrough on Insane difficulty, you will come across such a thing as Declassified Missions. Do not miss those things because they will help you out a lot in getting 3 stars for this or that location. If you are playing this game in cooperative mode, it should make things a bit easier but before you both start playing the Insanity difficulty, you will have to have this game completed on any of the difficulties mentioned above.
By the way – the next information might become very useful if you are going for this achievement with a friend. Start playing the game with two players but make one play on Insane Difficulty and the other one on the Casual difficulty. Now let the Casual player do all the job until the end of this level. Before completing this the location, let the Casual player leave the level and the Insane one cross the finish line. After a status screen pops up with the stars and all that stuff – invite the player back to the game. Just wait a bit and both players will get the very same credit for completing the chapter on Insane and will be granted with 3 stars. This is the easiest way to get things done for both players but this is either a glitched possibility which means that it might not work every time you try. For more information you should check out the “Gears of War Judgement: How to get 3 Stars in All Missions Solo on Insane Difficulty” post.

Never Forgotten.jpgNever Forgotten – (10 G)
Recovered 10 COG Tags during the Campaign

All in all there are 48 COG Tags in the Campaign (42 in Judgment and 6 in Aftermath Chapters) and in order to unlock this achievement you will have to recover at least 10 of them. As you locate COG Tags and collect them, they will vanish from the game and you won’t be able to find them again. For more information on where to find every COG Tag, check out the the "Gears of War: Judgment COG Tag & Declassified Mission Locations" post.

Veteran Remembrance.jpgVeteran Remembrance – (10 G)
Recovered 25 COG Tags during the Campaign

All in all there are 48 COG Tags in the Campaign (42 in Judgment and 6 in Aftermath Chapters) and in order to unlock this achievement you will have to recover at least 25 of them. As you locate COG Tags and collect them, they will vanish from the game and you won’t be able to find them again. Ribbon Master.jpgRibbon Master – (10 G)
Earned 3 unique Ribbons in any section

The whole Judgment campaign is divided into shorter chapters or levels that always consist of fighting scenes. Some of them are long, other happen to be pretty short but in all cases they keep you in a tensed condition. Also, on the top of all the possible achievements, collectibles and Declassified missions, there is also one thing called “Unique Ribbons.” They will be granted to you for completing different stuff like killing three bad guys in a row with a headshot or for cutting a few with a chainsaw, again, in a row. So far you can find lots of Ribbons in the game and I am pretty sure that unlocking some of those will come to you pretty naturally. For more information you should check out the “Gears of War Judgement: Ribbon Master Achievement” thread.

Proud Wearer.jpgProud Wearer – (5 G)
Equipped your first Medal

As you progress through the game, for all the effort you make, you will get different awards including medals of different kind. They will be granted to you for killing lots of enemies, the number of played matches and things alike. So, the better and the more you fight, the higher your chances are to obtain a medal. When you receive a pop up message saying that there is a medal waiting for you, you will need to equip it. In order to do that, simply go to the “Main Menu” and check the “Stats & Awards” category. Press the “RB” to get to the required Medal section. Choose the unlocked medal from the list and then press “A” on it to equip. Congratulations – the achievement is yours.
By the way – if you are a lucky owner of the VIP membership (aka Season Pass), you won’t have to go for this achievement and it will be added to the list of successfully unlocked achievements instantly. But even if not – simply start and play an OverRun match to unlock a medal and repeat to the procedure described above to equip the reward. For more information you should check out the "Gears of War Judgement Proud Wearer" thread.

Earned the Onyx "War Supporter" medal

As you progress through the game, for all the efforts you make, you will get different awards including medals of different kind. They will be granted to you for killing lots of enemies, the number of played matches and things alike. If you want to check your status on Medals, simply go to the “Main Menu” and check the “Stats & Awards” category. Press the “RB” to get to the required Medal section. As a rule, every medal has a rank to earn. Ranks can be checked below on a list with stars. As for the Onyx "War Supporter" medal, it will require you to play the Gears events. They can be accessed from the Main Menu by going to the “Versus” category and checking the “Special Event” list. Your task will be to play these events until you unlock the Medal. As a rule, there is a new event every new week about 8:00 PM Central Time but that is still to be confirmed. If things haven’t changed so far, this is the number of Ribbons you will have to acquire to get the Onyx "War Supporter" medal
Bronze: (5/5)
Silver: (5/10)
Gold: (5/20)
Onyx: (5/30)

Seriously Judgmental.jpgSeriously Judgmental – (75 G)
Completed all Declassified Missions on Insane difficulty

All in all there are 42 Declassified missions and if you want to unlock this achievement, you will have to complete them all and do that on the Insane Difficulty. That won’t be an easy task but with a certain persistence and maximum effort impossible is nothing.

Achieved level 50 and chose to re-up for another tour of duty

In order to unlock this achievement you will have to re-up for another tour of duty and reach Level 50 one more time as far as Level 50 is the maximum possible level in the game. But for more information it is highly recommended to check the “Unstoppable” achievement below.

Fearless.jpgFearless – (50 G)
Achieved level 50 a second time and chose to re-up for another tour

In order to unlock this achievement you will have to re-up for another tour of duty for the second time and reach Level 50 one more time as far as Level 50 is the maximum possible level in the game. But for more information it is highly recommended to check the “Unstoppable” achievement below.

Unstoppable.jpgUnstoppable – (50 G)
Achieved level 50 a third time and chose to re-up for another tour

If you are going for this achievement, you will very likely unlock the whole set of other achievements connected with reaching all kinds of levels. So, if you get lucky and persistent, here’s the list of goodies you are going to get:
- Level 5 (for reaching Level 5);
- Level 10 (for reaching Level 10);
- Level 20 (for reaching Level 20);
- Level 30 (for reaching Level 30);
- Level 40 (for reaching Level 40);
- Level 50 (for reaching Level 50)
- Let's Do This (for reaching Level 50 and choosing to re-up in another tour of duty);
- Fearless (for reaching Level 50 for the 2nd time and choosing to re-up in another tour of duty);
- Unstoppable (for reaching Level 50 for the 3rd time and choosing to re-up in another tour of duty).
In order to unlock this particular achievement (and those mentioned above as a pleasant bonus) you will have to gain 150 levels in total and re-up 3 times in order to gain this. It will take some time and, probably, this is the longest achievement that can be unlocked in the game. But the good news is that experience to level up is gained for pretty much everything you do in all game modes. This achievement can be both obtained in Private Matches (fighting with bots also counts) and in Campaign mode. For more information you should check out the “Gears of War Judgement: Unstoppable Achievement” thread.

Death to Locust.jpgDeath to Locust – (10 G)
Killed with all classes on COG in Overrun or Survival

Well, this is kind of an easy achievement and you can get it pretty fast. All you have to do is to kill at least one enemy with all classes on COG in Overrun or Survival. And yes – this can be done in private matches. Considering that there are only 4 classes in the game, it won’t take much time to reach the goal. You can either kill one enemy and then quit to load the other class or keep killing enemies upon death and in the next round load as someone else. Here’s the list of classes you will have to play as:
- Engineer/Baird
- Soldier/Cole
- Scout/Paduk
- Medic/Sofia

Death to the COG.jpgDeath to the COG – (10 G)
Killed with all classes of Locust in Overrun

You can select the Overrun game by going to Versus. If you find it more comfortably playing in private matches, you can also play there and it will count towards your achievement. So, the trick of unlocking this achievement lies in killing at least one enemy with every class of Locust in Overrun. This is not as hard as it seems to be. The only trouble here is that you will need some points to unlock the whole list of playable characters. But that shouldn’t be a problem as far as you are very likely to get it through your natural progression. One of the easiest ways to do that is to fight against bots in Private Matches.
Technically, Locust characters can be divided into two groups:

Group #1:
Choosing warriors from this group won’t cost a thing and they will be at your disposal anytime and almost anywhere.
- Ticker – if you want to kill your enemy with Ticker fast and effectively, either press and hold the “RT” button for melee attack or press “B” for explosion;
- Wretch – if you want to kill your enemy with Wretch fast and effectively, press and hold the “RT” button for melee attack.
- Grenadier – can use any kind of weapon and still remain an effective warrior;
- Kantus – it is recommended to arm Kantus with the pistol.

Group #2
In order to play the characters from this group, you will have to earn points through your progression. This will come pretty slowly but still – kind of steady and automatically. Just make sure you kill as many enemies as possible. To unlock the next Locust Four, you will need 12400 Points in total. You do not have to gain and spend them at once. Here’s the list of Locust characters available in the Group #2 together with the number of points required for their purchase:
- Rager - 1500 Points – Nothing extraordinary here: simply use your gun against the enemies;
- Serapede 2400 Points – if you want to kill your enemy with Serapede fast and effectively, press and hold the “RT” button for melee attack. Rear up and spit also work great;
- Mauler 3500 Points – if you want to kill your enemy with Serapede fast and effectively, press and hold the “RT” button for melee attack. Also, spinning your shield works great in ripping the enemies apart.
- Corpser 5000 Points – by pressing and holding the “LT” button you will activate Corpser’s melee attack that has a 1 kill effect
In order to keep thing under control, you can go to the Main Menu and check the Achievement Section. In Stats & Awards submenu you will be shown what kills have been completed and what kills still have to be performed.

Survivor.jpgSurvivor – (10 G)
Completed wave 10 on all maps in Survival mode

All in all there are 4 maps in Survival Mode and you are supposed to defeat the wave 10 on every map in order to unlock this achievement. As always, you can also obtain it while playing in Private Matches. Here’s the list of maps you need to complete:
- Skyline;
- Island;
- Estate;
- Junkyard.
The good news is that there is no need to complete this achievement on harder difficulties and you can or even should play it on Casual. Also, you can invite your friends and fight against enemies in cooperative mode. The Survival mode itself is pretty much a combination of both Overrun and Horde modes. In order to survive the Survival mode, you will have to take down 10 waves of enemies. As always, they will get harder with every next wave varying in enemies and their strategy. There is no time limit for taking down waves and you can leave at least one weaker foe and prepare for the next wave if you want to. You will be playing with the bots on your side if you decide to play it without friends. If the E-Hole gets destroyed twice – you will be forced to get back and protect the generator. That shouldn’t be a problem as far as this is a well protected and fortified area and as long as you keep repairing the barriers and keep them up – you will very likely survive all 10 waves without any problems. The last 10th wave is going to be the hardest one.

It is recommended to share this game with other players and invite as many as possible to join you. All in all (including you) there can be 5 people in the Survival mode. First of all – it makes things flow a lot faster. Second of all – if player joins you a bit later in the game, at the end of the mission his efforts towards the achievement will also be taken into consideration.

However, if you have no one to play with, you can join a random team in Public Matchmaking. Though, that is not the best idea in the world as far as you will be forced to play with 4 other unknown players on Hardcore difficulty and that is not the best thing ever, as it appears – playing on Casual is far more exciting. Globe Trotter.jpgGlobe Trotter – (10 G)
Won a match on every map in all Versus mode

If you do not have any other options, you can unlock this achievement while playing Private Matches. All in all there are 3 Versus Modes:
- Free For All;
- Team Deathmatch;
- Domination
But, along with 3 Versus Modes, there are also 4 maps you need to play on. They are:
- Gondola;
- Rig;
- Library;
- Streets.
Yes, my dear friend, this pretty much means that you are supposed to play 12 matches in total: every Versus Mode has to be played on every Versus map. But, as far as this achievement is not difficulty dependent, you can complete it on Casual while playing with bots. Also, you can make an attempt to create uneven teams and lead the domination one. For instance it can be 2 on 1. After you’re done – you can change sides and help the others to complete the achievement as well. After all – being a gentleman is never a bad thing.

Won 10 matches of Overrun

If you do not have any other options, you can unlock this achievement while playing Private Matches. Your task is to play the Overrun mode and become a winner at least 10 times. While it sounds like a time consuming thing, as a matter of fact – it happens to be a lot easier thing to do. But, before your start, you will need to turn the Mercy Rules on. This will allow you to play against and with bots on the Casual difficulty and we all know that Casual makes everything… well, casual.

Now, before you start the mission, you will be asked to choose your character and it can be either a human being or a Locust. In this part of the game your choice makes no difference and if you choose to play as a Locust – it’s all up to you. The only difference pops up after, when you start playing the game. If you play as a human – your task will be to protect the E-Hole. If it gets destroyed twice – you will be forced to retreat and protect the generator. On the other hand, if you play as a Locust, your task will be to destroy the E-Hole. Unfortunately (or luckily) you won’t be able to simply run toward the E-Hole and either destroy or protect it because on your way there you will face some barriers. But, if you put in some effort and beat the time of the other team – then this will make you a happy person and a winner. Also, this really makes the matches shorter and if you do everything right – there is a possibility to unlock the achievement in less than 15 minutes.

Playing as a Human:
Of course, you can choose whatever class you prefer but I would recommend to pick the Engineer. First of all – because he can repair the barriers which is really convenient and vitally important; Secondly – because he can use the overpowered turrets which, of course, is also a big deal. As for your primary weapon – I would recommend to equip the Engineer with a Shotgun. Probably, the most important things to keep in mind and the most important thing to be aware of are the Wretches. They are tricky enough to jump over the barriers and get behind you without even being noticed. So, if you see Wretches – make sure to deal with them as fast as possible. Also, in order to stay on the safe side, it is highly recommended to keep going from barrier to barrier on each side and check is someone’s trying to flank you.

Playing as a Locust:
Of course, you can choose whatever class you prefer but I would recommend to pick the Grenadier. First of all – he can shoot the barriers from the distance which makes things a lot easier. Secondly – he can use grenades pretty often which will keep those fellows away for as long as possible. If you manage to get close to the E-hole, you will have an amazing opportunity to damage it with a grenade which, of course, will bring you closer to the win. If the spot is safe and you can throw grenades without taking any damage in reward, please, be a dear and continue doing that as long as possible. If too many humans are blocking the way – simply try to flank them and use another spot for completing this achievement.
