Alright, I've looked high and low for an answer to this and can't seem to find it.

I currently have a network attached file server with music/videos/etc. on it. I use Windows shares on it so that it is accessible to all computers in the house. The XBox 360 has no problem finding the server with the System Video Player and playing the videos I have there. Will the XBox One continue that functionality? Will the PS4 be able to do this?

Alright. I kept seeing only that it has to be PlayTo compatible but DLNA is more broad than that. Good. Currently have XBox360 and an original backwards compatible PS3. I guess I'll go for the One next week and keep the PS3 for a while.

Xbox for sure.
Not so sure about PS4, but i guess, theoretically it is possible. Might have to tweak\DIY some stuff tho

I've heard / read the same thing. For now, the PS4 will be questionable in regards to it having DLNA out of the box. I think a future update may change that.
