Tom Murphy VII (Google software engineer) recently submitted a paper to Cargnie Mellon University about the A.I. system he designed to play video games. The system has two parts - Learnfun and Playfun. Learnfun is how the system figures out how to play the game, Playfun is the system actually playing the game. On the one hand it's truly fascinating seeing this thing work, but at the same time all I can think is "Nintendo Hard" just got pwned by a "basic" program. Probably the best part of this is that the computer really is a cheating son of a gun. I could learn much from this program.
