Sony has now revealed that the development cost for their new system the PS4 will be much lighter than the cost for the PS3. This is not too surprising because at the time of the PS3's release, Blu-ray technology was new and still very expensive. Plus, Sony utilized Cell technology as the main component of the PS3 instead of the PC structure found in the PS4. Good news from Sony as I'm sure this launch will be much better for them.

Well, that's pretty cool. I thought for sure that it would be more expensive due to the improved hardware, but I guess the explanation given for why it's actually cheaper is a pretty solid one. Guess this is why they can manage to sell it so relatively cheap.
