Xbox One PS4 soars ahead of the Xbox One in Sales Battle

The big miss here is that Sony announced 7 million "sold through" and Microsoft announced 5 million "sold in". So this pretty much means that there are 7 million PS4s that have been sold to retailers and then through to the customer and that there have been 5 million Xbox Ones that have been sold to retailers........no telling how many have been actually sold to customers though, so it could be more than a 2 million sales edge......

I put my faith into it, but I am afraid the PS4 will eventually get more sales.

Me too. Around my local neighborhood, a lot of gamers are going for the PS4 than the Xbox One. Only like 2 or 3 went for the Xbox One.

In the mall I went to, I saw more PS4 getting bought than the Xbox One. That's got to tell you something.

Well, the title says it all. And we've already seen this coming. Thoughts guys? Can MSFT make a bigger comeback?

I do not see that happening.

Simply because Microsoft's problem is it's hardware. Most people do not like what Microsoft's Xbox One has been designed for. They can not change that. The console has already been produced. The only thing that they can do is drop the price to $400, like the PlayStation 4, and hope that attracts more customers.

Other that that. I do not think there is anything that Microsoft can do at this point.

Sony had the stronger launch but that doesn't mean much in the long run. Microsoft also started off better last generation but Sony ended up ahead in the end.
I don't think that both consoles have enough exclusives out yet to make it a clear choice for players, a lot of people are waiting to jump on the next-gen wagon

I don't see it happening. Unless they really change their approach and start doing things differently. And it'll still take a long time to win back all the fans they pushed away, and rebuild the bridges they've burned since they first announced the xbone.

I don't see a comeback happening I really thing that PS4 really did have a better launch then Xbox one. The Xbox one was made to do to many things and unlike the Xbox 360 which was made more for gaming than for all the other stuff that the Xbox one can do. Like AB9100 said the Xbox one is really suffering when it comes to hardware and it is really turning a lot of people away from the console and the only thing that I think that Microsoft can do at this point is drop the price on the console and hope that it attracts more people to it.

I expect it to be up and down for a while but eventually even out. The problem isn't what the consoles come with, because most people are already a fan of either Microsoft or Sony and have predetermined which console they're getting. The real battle is trying to get new customers.

ps3 outsold 360 in its life span... now 360 will surpass it since they are still selling/building360's...

ps4 has outsold xb1... it is also in twice as many markets as xb1... iirc xb1 is in 13 markets why ps4 is in 30 markets. kind of hard to compete with that...

the number is also off because microsoft uses consoles sold to stores.. it does not use xblive to determine how many are in market... their could be 1 million systems in stores/shipping.. once the company buys and it ships its considered sold to Microsoft.

we all knew it was going to happen... xb1 had a horrible launch with more press on it as a negative.. no one had an idea what was going to happen, what the console was going to have or not have. drm, family share, blah blah blah the list goes on..

It could turn around, though. It's still too early to tell, I think. 360 did better than PS3 for many years. As they work out bugs and whatnot, I think we'll see some changes.

True, true. It's still too early to tell. I mean, everyone thought the 3DS was gonna be nothing but dust with its high price and stuff.... but look what happens: now it's one of the best selling handhelds.

MIcrosoft started better last generation because they released the Xbox 360, almost a year before the PlayStation 3 hit shelves. They had an entire year head start. That is why they had so much success with last generations launch.

However. This year on an even playing field. They got their butts kicked.

For now, I agree. But neither system has been out more than 6 months. It hasn't even been a year and folks are already touting Sony the victor... There are so many factors that can happen within the lifespan of the XB1 that may change things. Short term, I give Sony props... Long term, who knows what company will become victorious...

Yup, I gotta agree. If Sony still remains victorious in the next several months.... well, there's still time.

I guess it's hard to top that. To be honest if microsoft was open to all countries the chances would be 50 - 50

This interesting little tidbit makes it into surprisingly few articles that compare the sales numbers.

The irony of all this is that as much as the PS4 has outsold the Xbox One, Microsoft made a profit thanks for the Xbox divison while Sony continues to take losses. Which means Microsoft has the financial means to lower their price and take a loss leader hit and Sony does not. And I think at E3 you're going to see the Xbox One drop $399 and Sony won't be able to do anything to combat it.

Guess you're right about that. But we'll see. Anything can happen at this point.
