Xbox One Xbox One arrives in Japan on Sept. 4

Coming in strong with 48 Japanese developers developing for the Xbox One - Well done Xbox

That's a bit too late, but maybe we will see more Japanese devs interested into it.

Our fellow Japanese gamers are going to see what it means to have an all-in-one console very soon, for they're getting a chance to buy an Xbox One this September 4.

Thoughts guys? Ohoghohoh. This might open possibilities for genres never seen before in an Xbox One.

It's always been tough for MS to crack the Japanese market. Neither the original XB nor the 360 have done well. It will be surprising if they even do a quarter of the sales Sony will do. Although, I have to say, 48 developers do sound promising.

I think it was a matter of time before Xbox reaches foreign countries. It will be a big step for the company and I think it's in a positive manner.

Well, we'll have to wait and see how it performs. If it performs as badly as the Xbox or 360 then Playstation will continue to dominate. Though sale numbers have shown that even the PS4 is struggling!

Wonder which Japanese developers are making games for the system and I wonder if they will be able to draw Japanese gamers to buy the system...

I guess it will be a common trend to have playstation take the lead. Why, microsoft can't even spread it's consoles throughout the world.

48 devs. Yup, sounds promising. Better hope it can really show they can do something great for the XB1.

We'll see. But as we see right now, Japan's more of the handheld and PS3 market. I mean, the Japanese are always on-the-go, and when it comes to the gaming, they prefer the handheld. As for PS3, I tend to see PS3 games go up like the Hatsune Mikune. And yeahm PS4 is struggling as well.

Maybe they're playing it safe. I mean, can you suddenly put the Xbox One in a territory that's clearly PlayStation-centric and tell everybody, "The Xbox One is all-in-one!"? No, they can't do it like that right away. They have to inform and educate people on what the Xbox One is all about. It's also got a lot to do with culture. It was easy to market it in other regions 'cuz they somehow have an idea on what MSFT is trying to get by with the XB1.

sept is like 5 months away... i wouldn't concider that a win.. lol china/japan would be the 2/3rd market i would think microsoft would have wanted the xb1 in....

It has been delayed a little bit in Japan, but I would have never expected it to come out that late.

Localizing the voice features so that the Kinect is not useless to customers in other territories is no small task. I do not find the delay surprising. In fact, due to the lack of success of the PS4 in Japan I wonder how sane it is for MS to release the One there given their track record in Japan and the cost of the localization.

I still cannot understand how much this thing can be delayed.

Well, we'll see how it goes when it's out in Japan. If it doesn't make stellar sales when it's out... maybe Japan's really going mobile and sticking with PS3s for a while.

Yeah. I guess there are factors you need to take when you consider this.

It would be beyond stupid to not release it in japan. Even though microsoft is the weakest when it comes to profits there but to just deny an entire country let alone japan aka the mac daddy of tech and gaming would just be a insane move. Hopefully the voice command thing gets figured out as I think the kinect will do well in japan and that jap devs will be able to think up some really weird and creative ways.

As for how it'll do overall...I doubt extremely well since the wii u has already outsold the 360 in lifetime sales there...But it's still alot of money

I doubt that they would sell a lot in japan in particular. They are more into PS4 rather than Xbox.

XBox One in will have some tough competition from PS4 which has its home in Japan. But on the other hand if XBox releases interesting games people may be tempted to buy it although PS4 might also release more games at the time.
