Skyrim - Dawnguard Enhanced Dwarven Crossbow Guide
The Dawnguard add-on for Skyrim brings with it a new set of weapons and armor to help you fight various powerful enemies. One of the most powerful weapons in this collection is the Enhanced Dwarven Crossbow. When used with the specialty exploding bolts, the Enhanced Dwarven Crossbow is the best Archery weapon in the game. This weapon will become available to you for purchase from Sorine Jurard at Fort Dawnguard once you have completed the "Ancient Technology" quest.

"Ancient Technology" quest is available to you after you have completed "A New Dawn". Speak to Sorine to begin on the quest. She will tell you that she knows the location of a schematic that can produce new upgrades or ammunition types for the crossbow. She will then send you to retrieve it from a radiant location, usually a Dwarven Ruin or Bandit stronghold.
This quest is divided into six parts, and each part involves you finding a different schematic for a weapon upgrade or ammunition type. The schematic is usually inside a boss level chest at the radiant location given, and may sometimes be guarded by a boss level enemy, for example, a bandit chief. You may also find a Dwarven haul note and several pieces of Dwermer metal.

Enhanced Crossbow Schematic - Broken Helm Hollow, Embershard Mine, Fort Fellhammer, Gallows Rock, Halted Stream Camp, Kagrenzel, Robber's Gorge, Treva's Watch, Stony Creek Cave, Swindler's Den.
Dwemer Exploding Fire Bolt Schematic - Knifepoint Ridge, Orotheim, Bilegulch Mine, Lost Knife Hideout, Rift Watchtower, Robber's Gorge, Fort Fellhammer, Faldar's Tooth.
Dwemer Exploding Ice Bolt Schematic - Nchuand-Zel (in Markarth), White River Watch, Stony Creek Cave, Alftand, Mzinchaleft, Uttering Hills Cave, Raldbthar, Broken Oar Grotto, Lost Knife Hideout.
Dwemer Exploding Shock Bolt Schematic - Broken Oar grotto, Faldar's Tooth, Fort Fellhammer, Gallows Rock, Redoran's Retreat, Robber's Gorge, Treva's Watch, Nchuand-Zel.

After you have obtained the schematic, return to Sorine and she will reward you with a leveled piece of enchanted armor or weapon. She will also teach you how to craft the item whose schematics you have brought, as long as you have already unlocked the required smithing perk.
The Enhanced Dawrven Crossbow schematic is the last of the six that you will obtain during this quest. Once you have the schematic, you can craft the weapon using the Dwarven Smithing perk. It can only be crafted at the blacksmith's forge in Fort Dawnguard. You will need the following components; a Dwarven crossbow, and two Quicksilver ingots. You can upgrade it using a Dwarven Metal Ingot at a grindstone.
