Skyrim - Marriage Guide
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has marriage as part of the game's storyline. The Dragonborn has the option to enter into a marriage with an eligible NPC. Before getting married to an NPC, there is a specific task that must be completed first. The player must first obtain the Amulet of Mara, then dialogue with the targeted NPC while wearing it, having met the requirement for them, usually a quest. After this, they can go to the Temple of Mara to ask Maramal to arrange the wedding ceremony.
The Amulet of Mara
The Amulet of Mara can be purchased from the priest Maramal for 200 gold. The priest can be found in the Temple of Mara or at the Bee and Barb Inn in Riften. You can also find the Amulet of Mara as a random loot, or loot it from Kematu in Swindler's den. Alternatively, you can complete the Book of Love questline to earn it as a reward.
Wedding Ceremony
The wedding ceremony is organized by Maramal within 24 hours after you ask him. If you have completed quests for some NPCs, they may appear at the wedding as guests. Your housecarls will also come if you already own some houses. If you miss your wedding ceremony, you can ask your partner for another chance, and then Maramal will organize the ceremony for the following day.

Married Life
After the marriage, the couple can choose to live in the Dragonborn's house or the partner's house. If the Dragonborn wishes to relocate the spouse to a different home at any point in the game, there is a dialogue option for that.The spouse undergoes some changes in tone and character towards the Dragonborn to reflect their new married status. For example, she refers to the Dragonborn using affectionate names like "Love" or "Dear".
If the spouse goes to live in one of the Dragonborn's houses in another city, he or she may indicate that they wish to become a shop owner to keep busy while the Dragonborn is away on adventure. This will provide the Dragonborn with a chance to collect a daily portion of 100 gold from their profits. The gold accumulates if the share is not collected. The Dragonborn can also buy and sell wares from the spouse just like with normal vendors. Spouses can only sell their wares in the marital home.
The Dragonborn can ask the spouse to cook some food once a day. This home made meal increases the regeneration of magicka, health, and stamina. The Dragonborn will also get a temporary bonus called Lover's Comfort that boosts the rate of skill-learning by 15% for 8 hours if they spend the night in the house with the spouse. However, this bonus will not be available if Lover's Stone is activated, or if the Dragonborn underwent a Blood Ritual to become a Werewolf.
It is possible to break up a marriage to any of the NPCs. There are provisions for divorce, without the Dragonborn having to resort to killing their spouse.
