The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct Achievement Guide

Introduction
The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct is kind of an easy game and unlocking achievements won’t be a problem at all. The only thing you have to do is to follow a basic set of rules and everything will be just fine. On the scale difficulty The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct deserve no more than 4 points out of 10 and only because some of them will take a while to complete. All achievements can be unlocked offline and won’t take longer than 15 hours to complete. Though, you will be forced to play the game at least twice in order to get things done. As for the difficulty – it won’t affect getting achievements in any possible way, so play it on whatever difficulty level you find is good for your game style.
Below are the achievements for The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct, along with the number of achievement points you’ll receive and a summary on how to get each achievement.

Complete All Marked Destinations on the Map

Completing this achievement is pretty simple as far as it will require you to travel through all the possible Marked Location Destinations and as far as they are story related, you are very unlikely to miss them. Well, travelling to some locations will depend on your previous choices. You might be forced to complete this achievement in two playthroughs. All in all there are 16 Marked Location including the one you will start your game with:
1. Cabot Ridge (You will start here);
2. Sedalia;
3. Either Garwater;
4. or Pemberton;
5. Fontana;
6. Either Cleburne;
7. or Oakview;
8. Taggart (but only if the previously picked location was Oakview);
9. Lemon Hill;
10. Barksdale;
11. Eitehr Lafferty;
12. or Archer Creek;
13. Either Polksville (Lafferty path);
14. or Danvers (Archer Creek path);
15. Sherwood;
16. Firesign Stadium.
But in general, the main guidance here is to simply follow your map and explore every marked destination on it.

Explore an Unmarked Travel Location

In order to explore Unmarked Travel Locations you are advised to take highway paths. This will cause your car to break more often meaning you will have to stop for repair and supply hunting a bit more than usual. If you take the already mentioned back streets or highway paths and your car breaks, make sure you choose “Explore” option. Every exploration will count as a successful one. Make at least one successful exploration to unlock this achievement.

Explore 25 Unmarked Travel Locations

In order to explore Unmarked Travel Locations you are advised to take highway paths. This will cause your car to break more often meaning you will have to stop for repair and supply hunting a bit more than usual. During your first playthrough it is possible to cover around 10-15 locations max. If you take the already mentioned back streets or highway paths and your car breaks, make sure you choose “Explore” option. Every exploration will count as successful and will make you closer to the finish line. Also, it might be a good idea to search for some specific supplies to prolong your existence in the world filled with walkers.

That's a Nice Swing You've Got (15)
Kill Walkers Using Every Melee Weapon

The whole game is based on killing zombies with melee weapon. First of all – because it is silent and draws no attention, and second of all – it looks amazing. To unlock this achievement you will have to kill at least one zombie using every melee weapon in the game. The only trick here is that your inventory is limited and, probably, you won’t be able to carry all melee weapons in it. Also, different melee weapons are available in different locations meaning that you will have to explore the areas in order to find them. Though, it shouldn’t be a problem due to pretty linear scenario with not that many ways to go and direction to explore.
As for the weapons, all in all there are 5 items mentioned in the list:
- Hunting Knife;
- Lead Pipe;
- Hammer;
- Sledge Hammer;
- Baseball Bat.
The main principle of using melee weapons is rather simple: you approach from behind and smash a walker into his head. Some weapons will require being used on somebody’s head more than one time. Also, weapons like hammer or hunting knife will make you swing or stab no less than 3 times. Luckily, after every hit walkers will be disabled for a certain period of time giving you a perfect window for a few more hits. The only real danger might come from 4 or more zombies approaching at a time. On the top of that you need to keep in mind that melee weapon and melee attack are two different things and hitting eaters with hammer or knife is one thing while killing it from behind with a knife is a totally different.

They Know Me at the Range (15)

Kill Walkers Using Every Ranged Weapon

While this sounds like an easy thing to do, you need to keep one important thing in mind: zombies react on the sound and fire weapon is pretty loud here. In other words – if you plan on completing this achievement, before firing any ranged weapon (and by saying “ranged” developers mean every gun you can find in the game), make sure you are at a perfect place for escape or somewhere where not a single zombie can reach you. Also, finding and obtaining the whole list won’t be an easy task and most of them will have only a few bullets to shoot. In the list below you are going to find all the available range guns in the game. All in all there are 11 (10 weapons and 1 explosives) of them:

1. Bolt Action Rifle:
Can be found in various locations and happens to be very handful at longer distances.
- The first place you will locate the rifle is Cabot Ridge. It will be lying right next to the pack of ammunition and the first fuel can.
- The next place where you can find the Bolt Action Rifle is Sedalina. Enter the police station by the exit towards the trailer park there will be she, resting right next to the walker. By the way – there should be another walker in the room and he isn’t dead as well. So, when you get inside and see the rifle – do not get distracted with it and secure the area by talking care of the walkers pretending to be dead.
- The next location that can boast with the Bolt Action Rifle is Fontana. Get inside the theater and by the back entrance you will locate the weapon. If you want to pick it up, come out of the diner and right in front of you there will be the back entrance, though, it will be locked. Well, just go through the long hallways that wrap around the theater and you will find the rifle lying on the bench.
- The 4th known location of the Bolt Action Rifle is Sherwood. The weapons will be lying right next to Aiden, on the top of the roof.

2. Revolver:
- You very first Revolver you are going to find is in the police station. Get inside and explore the building a bit. On the desk right in front of the open counter you are going to see a revolver with 1 ammo package. Though, don’t rush to pick it up because there will be a walker chilling out not far from the place.
- The next spot with the revolver is Pemberton area. Check the very same building the Sheriff is in. After you enter the building and talk to Sheriff, go down the hall from the place he’s standing. When you face your very first door – open it and get inside. Now, on your left, directly at the intersection of the hallways, there should be the Revolver.

3. Semi Auto Shotgun:
- Semi Auto Shotgun is a very useful thing when zombies are wondering around. So, if you want to find one, get to the Lemon Hill location and check the gas station. Yes, this is the very same gas station where Merle has been playing fireworks. When inside the station – look on the ground and you will find the Semi Auto Shotgun right in front of the counter.
- Another great location to check for a Semi Auto Shotgun is Polksville. After the moment, when the whole horde of zombies spots you, quickly turn around and the desired weapon will be near the first boxcar to your right.
- Sherwood is, probably, the most inspiring location with a lot of action and lots of weapons. When there, get inside the mechanic shop and find Aiden. The Shotgun itself will be lying not far from the duffle bag.
- When in Firesign Stadium, go through the fence and make your way to the two trucks parked to your left. The gun you are looking for will be lying not far from the machete on the ground. Well you can pick up both and then make your way to the next location.

4. Double Barrel Shotgun:
- You will receive your very first Double Barrel Shotgun at the beginning of the Garwater location. It will be given to you by the Police Officer. Ye, I know – it is very unlikely to happen in a real life conditions but in this game with the circumstances given impossible is nothing.
- Your next option where you can find a Double Barrel Shotgun is in the Fontana location. It will be lying at the main entrance to the police station. In order to find it, make your way from the back of the station. Check the desk near the double doors to your left.
- Another opportunity to improve your firearms powers is to explore the Barksdale area. Enter the Donut Shop (yes, the very same Donut Shop where you will find a squirrel). Double Barrel Shotgun will be lying on the ground in the room that can be entered through the hole in the wall.
- Sherwood area: search for the black car parked near the house. Enter the house, make your way to the very back of the house and enter the bedroom with the lights inside. Now look on the ground and a Double Barrel Shotgun will be lying at the foot of the bed.

5. Semi Auto Rifle:
Semi Auto Rifle is another weapon that can be found almost anywhere. At least three locations will be at your disposal meaning that you will be able to enjoy the whole firepower of this weapon.
- The very first Semi Auto Rifle can be found in the Lemon Hill location. First of all – make your way to the Church. When inside, check the altar and right at its foot you will see the gun. Well, pick it up!
- Another great place to increase your firepower is Oakview area. When there – get through the lumber mill by climbing up the ladder. When you make your way to the balcony, jump off it and land on the dead walker lying on the ground. Now, check his arms and the rifle you are looking for will be right under it (the arm, of course).
- The next location where you can treat yourself with the Semi Auto Rifle is the Polksville area. When you find yourself in the boxcar, climb through it in order to get to the train yard. Pretty soon you will be noticed by the whole horde of zombies. When this happens, turn the other way round (180) and head to the first boxcar to your left. Yes, this is THE boxcar with 2 open doors. However, be ready to meet 3 zombies guarding your treasure. Take care of them first and pick up the rifle.

6. High Powered Pistol:
- In order to find this one you will have to explore the Fontana location. By the way – you can use the Squirrel guide to locate this weapon because the Pistol you are looking for is right next to the dead animal. So, to get one in your hands, from the very beginning go all the way down the alley, at the very end of it you are supposed to hit the chain link fence. There will be a pile of boxes right next to it. Use those boxes to jump over the fence. Take care of two zombies walking around and looking for some food. Now, climb on the car and then on the metal roof that covers a part of the parking lot. Here you will find a stuffed squirrel and a High Powered Pistol in dead man’s hand.
- This pistol can be found in the Polksville area. Right after a flying helicopter spots you and the whole horde of zombies start attacking you, get into the first open box car to your left, kill a zombie right next to it and grab a pistol.

7. Crossbow:
You will get it through the game progress meaning that you can’t miss receiving this weapon.

8. Fast Action Handgun (Pistol):
- In order to get your very first Fast-Action Pistol, check the Celburne location. Get to the hospital and make your way to the top floor. When there – check the opposite side of the barricade and right under a blue “Parking sign” you should find the pistol. This has to happen just before you enter the room with a scientist in it working on a serum. The only thing to remember here is that you are not allowed to open the double door yet. Otherwise, you will have to restart the mission and go all over again to get the gun.
- Another location with a gun is Danvers. After you open the very first security gate, check the middle hallway and the gun should be there. I can’t be more specific because it spawns at this location but can be found in random places.
- In your very last location aka Firesign Stadium, at the point when you enter the Stadium, there will be a vehicle. In about 5 feet or so there will be the gun you’re looking for.

9. Pump Shotgun:
You are very likely to find one in Pemberton. Progress though the game and on your way to complete the primary objective you should spot a pump shotgun on the floor right next to his, the sheriff's deputy, dead body.

10. Assault Rifle:
- Can be found at the very beginning directly in front of you at Firesign Stadium. The rifle will be lying right behind the ammunition box.
- Another Assault Rifle can be found in the very same location but a bit further with your natural progression. So, when you’re playing in Firesign Stadium, progress to the check-in station area and not far from the station, near the spot where you will find a machete, you are also supposed to see an assault rifle. It should be lying inside a large tented area but if you want to pick it up without any casualties, it is not recommended to go any further than the rifle itself. You see, this area is heavily crowded with bitters meaning that if you get into trouble by not listening to my words, you will be flanged with more than 20 zombies and very likely will be killed in action. So, just grab the rifle and walk back.

11. Grenade:
Using Grenades in a survival game is not the best strategy ever. But, when you need to deal with the whole horde of zombies coming at you and unlock a few achievements (like killing at least 5 zombies with one explosion), this is the best tool ever.
- So, the very first Grenade can be picked up inside the police station in the same room as the revolver in the Pemberton location. Just go down the hall from the Sheriff and rather sooner than later you are going to locate the already mentioned Grenade.
- Another place to search for is in Garwater. Get inside Ranger’s house and check the room the ranger himself is trapped in. Look on the desk and there you will locate a few grenades. Well, make them yours.

I am pretty sure that this is not the whole list of possible locations and, maybe, in the future updates developers are going to add a few more guns. But so far this is the fullest list of guns available.

Kill 100 Walkers while Grappling

In order to get into the Grappling mode, you will have to get as close to the walker as possible. He will take a part of your health but you are not likely to die. Besides, you can always use some energy or vitaminized drinks to restore your health afterwards. So, when in this mode – simply move the cursor over zombie’s head and press the “RT” button. You will have to do that at least 100 times but with the number of zombies in every area it won’t be a problem at all. If you work persistently, you are very likely to unlock this by the end of Act 2.

Dismember 250 Limbs

Unlocking this achievement won’t be easy as far as playing the game with a gun in your hands is not safe and will definitely draw attention of all the possible walkers hanging in the area around. But, if you have enough rounds and guts to rush into the hordes of zombies and shoot of their Limbs – well, please, be my guest. If you play it stealthily – unlocking this achievement might take a while. A big while, to be exact. The best way to achieve it quickly is to use a shotgun. Any type of this weapon will do the work fast. Also, at the final sequence of the game you will get a chance to play with the mounted .50 Caliber Machine Gun and thanks to Rambo IV we all know that this gun has an amazing ability to dismember limbs. So, all you have to do is to aim properly at the tors of the zombies surrounding you and this will take off their arms. The only minus in this kind of strategy is that shooting off arms might cause you failing the mission. So, get yourself prepared to play it for a few times. But, as far as dismembering limbs is counted through all your plays, with a few restarts you can actually get the whole set of 250.

Now Don't You Get Bit! (30)

Prevent 50 Walkers from Grabbing You

You do not have to unlock this achievement in one set. Plus, it is nearly impossible to find a horde of zombies that big. Well, there will be one place with about 50 zombies at the very end of the game but you are not very likely to take it down with your melee weapon. If you still do not know – if you get too close to a zombie, he will grab you and if you do not react fast enough – his teeth will very likely taste your flash. So, if you do not want that to happen in a regular playthrough – just keep away from zombies as far as possible. Though, to complete this mission you will have to play inaccurate for at least 50 times. But we do not want you to die and get into trouble with the sequence of grabs, so here’s what you should do. Well, the good news is that no matter how many zombies there are around, if at least one of them grabs you, all the rest will be waiting for their turn to grab you as well. But the trick here is that you are not supposed to be grabbed by the walkers. Just the very same second a walker will try to do the move – press the “RB” button to prevent him from grabbing you. You will need to practice a bit but otherwise things seem to be pretty easy to complete. On the top of that, you will have a plenty of zombies to practice on. Also, if you still get grabbed after all, the biggest problem you might get into is a little injury. Of course, if you do nothing and let the zombie get all over you, then, of course, things are not going to go well. It is highly recommended to play this “hard to get” role with the loners but if it is not possible and you are sure that the nearby standing zombie will still grab you after that, simply press the already mentioned “RB” button right before you kill the first zombie. This should prevent you from being grabbed by the next zombie. If you do not succeed – it means that the timing is not perfect.

Recruit 1 Optional Survivor

Recruiting optional survivors is not hard and you are likely to find those at almost every location. While you progress though the game – simply explore the area and you are likely to hear someone screaming for help. Locate the survivor, do whatever he/she asks you to do (it can be anything from finding batteries up to locating some special items), get back to them with the required item and they will join you in your next car travel. Depending on a car, you can take a different number of survivals with you. After completing the very first area, you will get an opportunity to take one optional survival with you (there will be three sits in the car: one for you, one for the story related survival and one for the optional survival). Choose whomever you find suits your company and let him go with you. For more information and car management you can see the optional objectives.

Every Man, Woman and Child (30)

Choose to Travel at Least Once with Every Optional Survivor

During your natural progression you are going to meet different people. Some of them are regular NPCs that can be interacted but can’t be taken with, some are obligatory survivals that will come with you not matter if you want it or not. But there are also those who depend on your decision and can be other chosen to continue their travel with you or to be left behind. Before you start going for this achievement, you need to know that it is impossible to unlock it in one playthrough, so you will have to go at least twice to meet every optional survival and travel with him or her no less than once. For a detail on the locations of all the survivors see the survivor locations guide.

Find Every Useable Vehicle

I know that Hollywood movies ensure us that it is possible to start a car without keys but to make it a bit more challenging you won’t be able to do things like that in the Walking Dead: Survival Instinct meaning that it is vitally important to find a key to start a car. Well, you will also need some gas but we will get back to that later. So far there are 4 usable vehicles in the game. However, you won’t be able to locate the whole set of 4 keys on one playthrough meaning that you will be forced to go again one more time. You see, the game works in a good old manner giving you an option to choose your further location but forbidding you to get back and change your decision. So, if you are going North, it is very likely that you won’t be allowed to get back and go South on the crossroad. In order to collect all 4 keys you WILL have to play the game one more time. To find the keys see the Keys locations guide in this forum.

Collect Every Stuffed Squirrel

No one can tell for sure for what particular reason a man with zombies walking around would enjoy collecting Stuffed Squirrels instead of some great items but if you need them to unlock another achievement, we are willing to help you out. See the stuffed squirrel locations guide for details on finding them all.

Good Samaritan.png
Good Samaritan (30)

Complete 25 Optional Objectives

Most of the optional objectives will be given you by the people you meet during your natural progression. Of course, you can skip them and go just for the main ones but playing and searching for additional stuff is kind of fun and gives you a better feeling of the game. Besides, by playing the optional objectives you will unlock the “Good Samaritan” achievement. Though, you will have to complete 25 optional objectives to make it possible. The longest but the most logical way to do that will be to agree with everything you are said and do everything you are asked. When it comes to 25 successful helps – the achievement will be yours. However, you can make it simpler and unlock pretty fast and even on your very first mission after the Prologue.
Progress through the mission until you get to the generator checkpoint. At this point simply do anything dangerous and get yourself killed, for instance, running through the buildings and the hordes of zombies will be a perfect strategy for that. Now, every time you die and respawn at the checkpoint, the game will keep on checking your successful tradeoff with the cop. While killing yourself 25 times in a row might take some time, it still will bring you the achievement mentioned a lot faster than natural progression through the whole game and completing all the Optional Objectives, don’t you find? By the way – dying 25 times in a row will definitely unlock another achievement that goes under the name “You're Doing It Wrong” where you are supposed to die 13 times during the game.

Complete a Marked Destination on the Map without Taking Any Damage

On your map there are marked destinations that you are supposed to visit. As it is mentioned in the description, complete the location without taking any damage. It can be easily achieved by following a very simple set of very simple rules:
- kill zombies from behind with one hit melee attack;
- never let zombies to come closer than it is necessary;
- use weapon when possible and when you have enough bullets (though, I would not recommend using guns in the areas crowded with zombies because it will draw a lot of attention);
- crouch to pass the nearby zombies and use any possible cover to avoid contacting with them;
- zombies are pretty stupid and if one of them spotted you, just run away and hide around the corner. It is very likely that you are not going to be seen and they will get back to their boring walks and eating bodies if any;
- use different items and methods for distraction if you find it hard to pass another horde of zombies, Flares, Glass Bottles and Car Alarms will help you out a lot.
If you are looking for a bit more detailed guide on this achievement, here’s a very good option to unlock it pretty fast and pretty soon. I managed to successfully go for “Not a Scratch” achievement while playing in Sedalia location. One of the main reasons to choose this location is that it is not as crowded with walkers as any other area meaning – you will have less trouble completing the Marked Destination taking no damage. Also, it comes directly after the tutorial level meaning that the very first Real level is not likely to be hard to complete. So, here’s what you need to do:
1. From the very beginning clear the street area (up to the tanker truck blockade) and enter the store.
2. After you clear the store – use the back door to exit the building.
3. Move across the back alley and clear it out from zombies.
4. Enter the next store (there won’t be much option in here) through the back door.
5. At this point I would recommend to ignore Blake and do not interact with this DLC. First of all – if you try to be generous and save him, your actions will spawn a few more zombies randomly causing you additional trouble and endangering your rush for the achievement. Secondly – if you are playing just to get this achievement – doing any side missions will only take more time and will make it harder to get what you came for.
6. Leave out front but do not forget about the zombie waiting right outside the door. You can kill him different ways but the best option here is to bait the eater inside and kill it with the melee weapon or fire weapon with a silencer (if by any chance you happen to have one). By the way – if you do play the game for the second time, you are very likely to start the game with a crossbow at your disposal which makes things a lot easier.
7. Clear the next part of the street crowded with a few zombies or simply crouch past them to the gas station and talk to Warren Bedford. Use glass bottles or car alarms to distract the walkers if required.
8. After you receive your next task, head to the trailer park. It is recommended to clear the whole passage here to secure the return route and as far as zombies won’t approach you in hordes here, it is pretty easy to take them all down without any problem.
9. After you enter the trailer part area, move between the parked trailers killing zombies here and there if necessary.
10. Find a blue car that you can interact with and push it to enter the improvised trailer fortress.
11. There should be a zombie in a cowboy hat chilling out on the ground next to the fridge. While he looks peaceful and all that stuff, kill him before he gets up. This will help to avoid any unpleasant situations.
12. After you kill this fellow that, obviously, used to be Warren Bedford’s uncle, don’t go away immediately. Check the fridge one more time and the keys you need to get will spawn there. DO NOT PICK THEM UP! At least – yet. You see – the trick is that the very same moment you pick the keys – a decent amount of zombies will spawn immediately leaving you no choice but to face them. Well, unless you are prepared and with the following step by step action you will be.
13. Now walk (don’t run) back to the blue car. I do understand that your first instinct will be to run but still – don’t. You need to save your stamina for the further actions. When you reach the blue (interactive) car, turn right and then head straight forward to the fence until you see the entrance to your left.
14. Just keep moving forward towards the exit. If you face any zombies – try to outrun them. The trick here is that your stamina goes low pretty fast and you will have only a few seconds to pass by a zombie. Killing them with melee weapon is not recommended as far as you are very likely to be approached by the whole horde and we all know that this thing is very bad for your health. If you move fast enough, pretty soon you will find yourself on an open area and open areas leave you a lot more place for maneuvering and taking walkers (if necessary) one by one. But, if you get out from the already mentioned trailer park fast, all the randomly spawned zombies will turn back and leave you alone.
15. Make your way back to the gas station, take down any walkers that spot you or come directly at you and, talk to Warren Bedford to complete the first part of the task.
16. Now, start the generator.
17. Go back to fuel pumps.
18. To stay on the safe side, check behind the gas station because very often zombies spawn there randomly. Well, at least when I played the game, one pretty ugly zombie spawned there for no reason and if it wasn’t for the hammer in my hand and pretty quick reaction, I would have failed the achievement.
19. Once the area is clear and you are more than sure that not a single zombie sees you or is hiding behind your back, pump gas. It is highly recommended to look around every here and there because there is a great possibility that a random zombie will spawn. Though, you can avoid being attacked from all of sudden if you get on the nearby car.
20. When you’re done borrowing gas, simply follow the arrow and walk towards the tanker blockage you came from at the very beginning of the game. There should be a plenty of zombies trying to catch you. Climb the ladder at the rear of the trunk to get on the top of it.
21. On the top of the truck you will be safe for a certain period of time but certain enough to make your way to the finish line.
22. Jump of the truck on the ground and, trying to avoid any possible contact with the walkers, reach the green highlighted square.
23. When inside the square, press the “X” button and complete the mission.
24. You will get a pop up message shortly.

Well, if by any chance you are having troubles completing this achievement in Sedalia location, there is another option that you might enjoy even better. It will be more fun and has no severe restrictions on using firearms. My attempt to complete this mission without taking any damage was based on using semi-auto rifle and a pump action shotgun. And you know what – they make a perfect couple. If you get bitten during the gameplay, try to Dashboard and then hit “Continue.” This will bring you to very beginning of the mission giving another opportunity to complete the mission without taking any damage.
Now, as for the gameplay itself:
1. Speak with Merel.
2. After you finish talking, move down the alley.
3. On your way do not forget to pick up the firework bundles. Of course, do not forget to be careful and look for any possible zombies that might appear on your way. Also, some of the bitters will be lying calmly but will awake when you come closer to them.
4. As you progress through the alleyway, you are going to see a ladder. Before this ladder, there should be a zombie chilling out. Do not forget to take care of him or he will cause you some trouble.
5. Probably, the trickiest part of the level was at the graveyard. When you’re there, jump down and make your way to the back Church door.
6. Of course, make sure you are attentive and do not let a zombie at the wooden gate not far from the back door to attack you.
7. The good news is that there are no zombies inside the church. So, when in – explore the building and do not worry about getting bitten.
8. Lit up the fireworks.
9. Backtrack to the bus.
10. On your way there avoid any zombies.
11. Complete the mission and enjoy your achievement.

Complete a Marked Destination on the Map without Killing a Walker

Completing a Marked Destination on the Map without killing a walker is not as complicated as it sounds. Simply try to find the smallest location in the game with the least number of missions and use all the possible methods to avoid any contact with zombies. As it was mentioned before, zombies are pretty stupid and can be distracted or fooled easily. Usually, if you play the game calmly and crouch behind the zombies’ backs, they are not likely to spot you at all. Use any possible distraction to make your way (throw bottles, fire Flares, hit cars to set their alarms) through the passage blocked by zombies. Also, if a zombie or a bunch of zombies is after you, do not be shy to run away from them and hide around the corners or in the rooms. Also, the best way to leave a zombie behind is to get on the roof or even stay on the roofs as long as possible.
While it is possible to unlock this achievement at almost any location, the best way to do that is in the prologue mission. The task is rather simple: start the game, avoid killing any zombie in the creek bed and when you spawn in the house – avoid any possible contact with zombies and rush to the truck as fast as possible without killing a single bitter. By the way – completing the prologue in this kind of manner you are also going to unlock another achievement that goes under the name “You're Just Not My Type” that requires you to complete a Marked Destination without being grabbed by a Walker. So, if you avoid any possible contact with any possible walker – this achievement will be yours as well.

You're Just Not My Type (10)

Complete a Marked Destination on the Map without Being Grabbed by a Walker

Technically, the only thing you have to do is to avoid eye contact with zombies and keep them at the distance. Zombies will grab you only if they face you. It means that if you approach them from behind, you won’t get into trouble and will always be able to kill them from behind with one hit melee attack. The best advice here is to take it slow and progress through the mission step by step keeping your eyes open and your ears alert. By the way – grabbed by a walker means when he gets closer to you and a short animation starts showing him trying to bite you.

Enter Sherwood Without Any Survivors

This is, actually, pretty easy to get. You see, on your journey in the world of dead you are going to meet survivals that will ask you to take them with you. Well, you can either agree or disagree to do that. Survivors might be helpful is exploring areas and looking for some useful things like ammo or food. But, in order to unlock this achievement, you will have to enter Sherwood location without any survivals in your car. The easiest way to do that is to complete either Polksville or Danvers and after you do that – dismiss all the survivals riding with you and then just drive to Sherwood. But, even if you forget to dismiss all your survivals after leaving either Polksville or Danvers, go the back roads and complete any possible objectives you get. Press the survivor tab and dismiss any survivals riding with you. Once you enter Sherwood, you will get the pop up message notifying you about the successful achievement.

Complete a Marked Map Destination Using Only Firearms

While using any kind of firearms is not recommended in this game due to the fact that it will draw attention of all the possible zombies in one mile radius, there are achievements that will ask you do to the opposite. Well, we are ready to face the trouble. This can be done on any level you find comfortable playing. The only rule here is that you have to kill at least one zombie with the gun and DO NOT melee kill any zombie (because it will ruin all the effort). You are not supposed to kill every zombie in the area but every zombie you kill has to have a bullet in his head. Also, you can change your fire weapon during the mission as long as you choose between firearms. As for me, I personally got this achievement when playing the mission on the Stadium. At the very beginning of the Stadium location you receive an assault rifle with lots of ammo. So, you can combine “Run and Gun” strategy to complete the mission and if you do not plan to look for any kinds of collectibles, things will flow even faster.

True Dixon (25)

Complete a Marked Destination on the Map Using Only the Crossbow

One of the best ways to unlock this achievement is to go for it after you complete the game for at least once. This will unlock the Relic that allows you to start the mission with a Crossbow and Assault Rifle. Also, the best location to go for this achievement is the Prologue. Now, simply start playing the game for the second time and it will ask you if you would like to select a relic and choose an option to start with the weapon in your inventory. Obviously, confirm the offer and start playing. It is recommended not to use the Rifle when you go for this achievement because it is very likely that you will lose all the effort. Simply equip your character with the crossbow and shoot every zombie in its head to kill dead it faster. The strategy here is rather simple: take down those zombies who happen to be the closest to you. Well, technically, killing at least 1 zombie with a crossbow will unlock the achievement but as far as it is not possible to do that in prologue (or, at least, happens to be not that interesting), kill as many as you want. But, you need to remember that you are not allowed to be grabbed by zombies. This will force you to replay the whole level. So, if, after all, this kind of unpleasant situation happens, let the zombie kill you. This maneuver should restart the mission from the checkpoint and you will have an option to continue playing and unlocking the achievement. If you are not interested in killing zombies, use bottles and other distraction methods to keep zombies from noticing you and use these windows to find all the important and necessary equipment to progress further on.

Sneak Attack (35)

Perform Execution Kills on 50 Walkers

Unlocking this achievement should come pretty naturally to you as you progress through the game. Technically, performing Execution kills is the best way to complete the game causing no trouble to your character. Beside, you won’t have that many bullets to shoot them all off and as for the melee attacks – they take too much time to get things done. In order to perform an execution kill, you need to sneak from behind and press the “RT” button. No matter what weapon you are holding, your character will switch to the hunting knife and will stab the target into its head. You can also rush to the target and unless he spots you – perform the very same move and make another Execution kill. The only restriction on using this strategy spreads on the situations when lots of zombies are approaching or you find yourself surrounded by the walkers. In situations like this people always get bitten being unable to take down targets quickly enough. But, if you are not going for “Not a Scratch” achievement, where you are supposed to complete an area taking no damage, this won’t matter a lot.

It's Gotta Be the Brain (45)

Dismember All Limbs of 5 Walkers

Dismembering all limbs means that you need to cut off both legs and arms of the very same zombie. In order to unlock this achievement, you will have to do that with 5 zombies it total, meaning – 20 limbs are supposed to be cut off. It is recommended to use either a machete or an axe. Obviously, axe will work better and faster. Now, pick your first target, isolate it from all the other zombies and start doing your creepy business. I would recommend chopping off the arms firsts but it won’t be that easy considering that zombie’s arms are zombie’s weapons. So, duck and go for the legs first. After you chop the first one off, a walker should fall down. Do the very same with the other leg and separate it from the body. Now it’s time to go for arms. If you have troubles controlling the creature, use the “RB” button to make him a less complicated target. However, if you attempt to go for the arms first, be extremely careful because you can accidently kill a zombie by hitting him in the head and dismembering limbs from a dead body won’t count. Walkers have to be alive after you separate all 4 limbs from the body. So, after you’re done fooling around with the first zombie, find and isolate 4 more to cut them into pieces and unlock the achievement.

two heads are better than one.jpg
Two Heads Are Better Than One (5)

Kill Multiple Walkers with One Bullet

There is a plenty of ways you can unlock this achievement but all of them include you firing the weapon. It can be anything starting with a pistol and going up to the sniper rifle. However, using a rifle with a sight will make things a lot easier. Now, here’s how it works: first of all, you need to find at least two zombies. Secondly, you have either to wait for them to stand in a line or to make them go after you and make them stand in one line. Also, choosing a proper angle should help you to unlock this achievement. Once you have everything under control, do what you are supposed to do and send a bullet right into the head of the first zombie. If everything was set properly beforehand, you bullet will come through the first zombie’s head and will kill the one standing behind (obviously, with another headshot).
As it was mentioned before, unlocking this achievement is possible almost anywhere in the game as long as there are two zombies standing in a row. However, if you have troubles finding a proper spot, there is a good one right at the very first location. Here’ how it looks:
1. Start running back and forth in the Creek Bed after being attacked by zombies for the very first time. By doing so you are going to make the zombies to funnel up.
2. Take out your gun (preferably a rifle) and shoot the front zombie in his head.
3. If the timing and geometry have been set correctly, you are very likely to kill two birds with one stone. Oh, sorry – two zombies with one bullet.
The only thing you need to keep in mind is that every shot makes noise (unless you have a silencer) and noises draw zombies’ attention. So, if you shot the gun, you are very likely to see zombies approaching from all the possible direction. Just be prepared.

Have a Nice Trip! (20)

Kill a Walker That Is Falling Due to Dismemberment

I have to warn you that unlocking this achievement might turn into a real trouble because of a perfect timing. Well, there are a few ways to unlock it and get the 20G point but all of them depend on perfect timing and an exact sequence of tenses. So, your task seems to be easy: first of all you need to chop of the walker’s leg (it doesn’t matter what leg) and then kill the zombie on his way down but before the poor things reaches the ground. It does sound like an easy thing to do but trust me – you will either get lucky or will spend some time chopping off legs and shooting off heads without any success. That is why I am offering you a few options to complete the task and to get things done.

1. Tool: Machete
Machete is known as a perfect tool for making your way through the woods but is also a very useful tool in zombie apocalypses. For instance, it will be great in chopping off limbs, including legs. In order to do it right and do it safe, try to find an isolated walker or clear the area and leave one of them alive for your future tests. When you’ve got that covered, do exactly what I write next:
- Give the walker a strong melee to the head but do not kill him. This will stun the walker opening you a window for the next move and your next move is to:
- Chop one of the zombie’s arms off. This action will help you to avoid any grabbing and hitting. You can chop both hands off if you want to but one is more than enough;
- Well, now it’s the highest time to work on the legs. Choose whatever leg you find more disgusting and aim with the cross to get a perfect cut a bit lower the hip bone (or, in other words, where the legs start) and perform 3 strong hits, preferably into the very same spot on the leg. You might be forced to duck for a better hitting performance;
- After your third swing, the poor walker will lose his leg and will start falling. If you are standing on the side of the chopped off leg, your next (usually, 4th) swing will hit the falling walker right into the head. If you are not sure with the timing, it might be a good idea to practice a bit with the Machete beforehand and only after that go hunting.

2. Tool: Assault Rifle
If you have problems cutting off the legs and killing zombies with melee attacks when they fall down, you can use an Assault Rifle to solve the problem. Well, it will draw zombies’ attention and they will definitely start approaching you from all he possible directions but you will just have to play cool or clear the area beforehand making it available for all the tricky things that are about to happen. But, before you start shooting here and there, you will have to find a safe place for your character (small roofs, covered parking lots or truck roofs will work just great for the mission). It can be anything as long as it makes you unreachable for the walkers. Make a first shot to draw walkers’ attention and giving yourself a few more options (more than just one) for the further actions. Choose the target and aim for the leg. Maybe it is just some kind of a glitch but shooting of the left leg will make the walker balance for a second or two. This won’t happen with the right leg, though. But, a second long balancing opens a perfect window for your next move. Preferably, aim for the head and when your one-legged friend starts falling, shoot him in his head on his way down and unlock another great achievement.

3. Tool: 50 Cal Machine Gun
If things get really desperate, you can come to the extreme measures and use the .50 Cal Machine Gun in the Football Field location. At the end of the level you will get an opportunity to use the already mentioned deadly weapon a lot like Rambo did in the last (so far) Rambo IV movie. As far as there will be the whole horde of zombies approaching, you will get a plenty of targets to practice your creative shooting on. But, as far as we go for another achievement, here’s what you should do: first of all – aim for the legs. When you shoot one off – the body will balance for a second or two and will start falling down. On its way to the ground aim for the chest or head (if possible) and kill the walker before it reaches the ground. This will open the achievement easily.

Pull a Bolt From a Walker Then Kill Them With It

You can unlock this achievement the very same second you obtain a crossbow. This won’t be hard at all. Find a zombie (luckily, there is a plenty of those around every corner), preferably isolate it from the others or simply find a loner, aim for any part of the body with your crossbow (except the head) and shoot your weapon. This won’t kill the walker, so come closer to him and pull the arrow/bolt from the body, recharge your crossbow and now aim for the head and send another arrow/bolt in his head to kill the walker.

Distract 50 Walkers with Items

Distracting zombies is pretty easy in this game because here walkers are very sensitive and react on almost any sound. While items that can be used for distraction are not that hard to find, it is recommended to use them in locations filled with zombies because it will make the distraction process flow faster. Here’s the list of items that can be used for distraction:
- Flares;
- Glass Bottles;
- Car Alarms;
In the areas filled with cars (like in the very first location) making the alarms to go off won’t be hard at all. They will help you to distract and fool some zombies and do whatever you planned to do. Glass bottles work a bit different way here and can be thrown in certain directions meaning that you can make zombies to go where you want and do not wait them near the car to approach you. But, probably, the very best distraction tool here is the Flare. Their main advantage hides in the longest “distraction time.” The best way to use those is against groups of walkers because with a single Flare you can distract up to 15 walkers without any problems. Just throw it into the group of walkers but make sure that they do not see you. In certain places you can distract up to 25+ walkers with a single Flare. This makes the achievement really easy to get.
By the way, there is interesting information that might help you to unlock the achievement in the very first area (Prologue) without the actual process of distracting 50 walkers. Though, I have to warn you that there is a spoiler approaching. So, after your father dies, collect the gas required for the car to escape the location and make your way to the car. Throw a bottle right behind the truck and it will distract 7 or so Walkers. However, even with a few walkers distracted with the broken glass you are likely to get the achievement. This method might simply be glitchy but I won’t harm if you try it for yourself.

Restore Survivors 25 Times

If you plan to take care of any survivor you meet, there is a very great possibility that you will unlock this achievement naturally. But, in case you forget about healing them, here’s what you should do to unlock “That Looks Like It Hurt” achievement: when you enter a certain area (no matter what area it is), you will have an option to send the survivors riding with your to search the area for any possible goods like food, ammo, fuel and else. Choose whatever you need or whatever you think is useful and send them to explore the territory. After you finish the level, a status menu will pop out showing your fellow travelers and their health status. Probably, some of them won’t make it back but all the others are likely to be injured. Well, this is exactly what you need! Select them and restore their health with MREs. Now, do that with 24 more survivors and this will unlock the achievement. However, if you need to unlock this achievement fast, you can do the following:
- Right before you enter a Marked Destination, heal your survivors with MREs;
- Enter the level but then immediately “Pause” the mission;
- Restart the Level;
- If you did everything right – you will be backed to the very beginning of the level and right before you enter the Marked Location. And yes, it means that you can heal the very same survivors the infinite number of times. By all means, it is a lot better to have your car fully loaded with people to fasten the process of healing and unlocking the achievement.

Extreme Conditioning (10)

Sprint Until You're Exhausted 10 Times in One Level

This, probably, is one of the easiest achievements so far. You task is to exhaust your character 10 times during the level. This is very likely to be unlocked during your natural progression but you can do that in less than 2 minutes. When you are in control of your character, press and hold the “RS” button. Your character will start running. Hold the button until Daryl runs out of stamina and wait for him to recover. Full “discharging” and “recharging” will take no more than a few seconds. For some reason, Daryl the hunter has a very poor stamina. Maybe it’s some kind of a trick but still – it breaks all the logic. Though, it makes getting this achievement even easier. To know that you are fully recovered, check the sweat drops that appear on the screen. When they’re gone it means that you can sprint again. Just do that 10 times during one level and after your last sprint the pop up message will appear on the screen.

It's Not Venison, but It'll Do (10)

Consume 50 MREs

You are very likely to unlock this achievement naturally unless you play very carefully and take no damage. MREs are pretty big white square packages and are very easy to find. They will be scattered all over the area you play in. Though, if you happen to have any problems getting some, send the survivors to explore the area and they will likely bring you a few. MREs are equivalent to the Health Packs and will recover a major part of your health. In order to consume one, simply press the “Up” button on the D-pad and then press the “RT”. Do that for at least 50 times and it will bring you 10G points together with the “It's Not Venison, but It'll Do” achievement.

Still Not Buying a Hybrid (10)

Consume 250 Fuel

This is likely to come to you naturally unless you plan to travel on foot (which is impossible, of course). To cover distances between locations you will use a car and cars consume fuel. The longer you drive – the more fuel you consume. Taking back roads will force you to spend more fuel. In order to find more you can either search for yourself or ask the survivals riding with you to explore the area and look for the “fire juice.” Anyway, when you consume 250+ Fuel – you will get this achievement. I, personally, managed to unlock this achievement in the Act III without actually trying to unlock it.

Duct Tape Can Fix Anything (10)

Survive 5 Breakdowns

When you travel from one marked direction to the other, from time to time your car will break. If you want to increase the number of breakdowns, you should always choose the highways when moving to the next location. This will cause your car to break more often. When the vehicle breaks, you will find yourself in a so called “Unmarked Location.” Usually, this is either a forest area or a garage. Now, depending on the problems, you will have to find something to repair your car. As a rule, this is something like a new tire, battery, coolant and else. Simply explore the area and rather sooner than later you will get what you came for. Now, return to the car and your Breakdown will count as “Survived” the very same moment you get back to the car and repair it. If, by any chance, you die – don’t worry. You will get an opportunity to continue from the beginning of your emergency stop and find the required item in the very same location it was before.
I need to warn you that this achievement might get glitchy, especially if you try to complete it in two playthroughs. For instance, I used to survive 5 breakdowns during my first playthrough and then survived two more in the second, though – my achievement was still locked. So, I did another 5 in my second playthrough and only then I received the message saying that “Duct Tape Can Fix Anything” is mine already together with 10G points. Well, just keep that in mind.

next step bullet belt.jpg
Next Step: Bullet Belt (15)

Fire 300 Bullets

This should come to your naturally even if you play the whole game in stealth-like mode. You are not supposed to shoot those 300 bullets in a row, though – you should if you can. Firing from any weapon (except crossbow, of course) will count as a wasted bullet. But it’s very likely that you are not going to shoot out the whole 300 package. Well, for that matter you have the Stadium location. When you are there, you will have two perfect options to unlock the achievement. But, if you find it comfortable, you can combine them – it won’t harm.
1. Assault Rifle.
The very last location, the Stadium, will offer you 300 rounds of the assault rifle ammo. You can pick up a couple of cases at the very beginning and then find a few more at the end of the location. Now, all you have to do is to shoot them (preferably, at zombies but not necessarily) until you spend 300 bullets.
2. 50 Cal. Machine Gun.
At the very end of the mission you will be offered to enjoy shooting from the powerful 50 Cal. The thing is that this gun will have the unlimited number of ammo. So, fire at will. Besides, there will be 50 or so zombies coming your way, so you can enjoy taking them down as well until you fire the required number of bullets.

Complete the Game with Only 1 Firearm and 1 Bullet Left in Your Inventory

I know that it may sound scary but before your freak out, let me explain you something: you are not supposed to play the whole game with one bullet in your inventory. It is OK to use as many bullets and weapon as you want. The only thing that matter here is that you will have to reach your final destination and complete the very last mission (on the Stadium) with one Firearm and one bullet. I bet you want to find out the recipe? Well, here it comes.
- Play through the game as well as through the very final level as you would normally do until you reach the point where you are supposed to defend a helicopter. Well, here’s the part where all the magic starts!
- When there, switch to the weapon that has the least number of ammunition (or the one you enjoy the least) and fire all the bullets but one;
- From here you can use your whole arsenal whenever you think is comfortable and as much as you want – it won’t make a difference;
- But, when you finally reach the Humvee with his amazing .50 Cal machine gun, press the “Left” button on the D-pad and drop all the weapons and ammo you have except for the previously chosen one. You do not have to drop your crossbow as far as it doesn’t count as a firearm;
- Simply continue playing the game (using Humvee’s machine gun is OK – you won’t take it with you afterwards, plus – it has the unlimited number of ammo) but remember not to pick up any ammo and if you do it because you are used to picking up all the stuff, immediately drop it;
- When the final cutscene starts, you will get the pop up message notifying about the recently successfully unlocked achievement.

Shoot a Walker with 10 Bolts without Killing It

While the task I pretty explanatory and sounds like a piece of cake, you might get some trouble here even without knowing that. The very first one lies in the amount of bolts you can find. You see, you are likely to have no more than 6 or 7 bolts at the very beginning meaning that 3 or 4 more will be required to get the whole package of 10. While it sounds kind of logically to retrieve a few bolts from a zombie, unfortunately – this is not the way it works. The whole set of 10 Bolts has to be in a Zombie! In order to get a few more, you can either search for them yourself or make the survivors who come with you do the same. Also, if you plan on using the crossbow as your regular weapon, do not forget to get back for the bolts you fire to save the whole dozen complete. Now, when you got that covered, find a lonely zombie or separate it from the group (just simple safe measures) and when it’s OK – send all the bolts in his body (not his head). It is not recommended to shoot them all in one spot as far as those can disappear for no reason and you will have to start collecting bolts all over again. When the whole dozen sticks out from a zombie – you will get the achievement. Though, here’s something that you should know and that should make things a lot easier. While it is said in the description that you are supposed to send 10 bolts in a dead flash without killing its owner, you actually can do that on a dead body. At least – it worked for me. Kill a walker and when he’s on the ground shoot all the other 9 bolts in his corpse. The only thing to remember here is that a few moments after you kill a walker, his body will disappear (like in good old days) meaning that you will lose both – your bolts and your achievement attempt. In other words – pauses between you recharging and you firing have to be as short as possible. And, if you see a body fading out – send another bolt into it and this will save it from disappearing by getting it back to normal. When going after this achievement, you can also unlock “I Used to Be a Human Like You”. In order to do that simply shoot the zombie in his knee.

Arrive at Final Destination with Only Male Survivors

The trick of this achievement is that if your group consists of both male and female survivors and you reach Sherwood with all of them on a board, it is very unlikely you are going to unlock this achievement at all. Though, there is a way (or even two ways) to solve the problem.
- As your first option you can add only man or woman to your group so that at the end you won’t have problems.
- As your second option you can dismiss everyone from the group before you enter Sherwood. It will help you to avoid any possible complications and unlock one of the achievements. You see, both “Guys Night Out” and “Rosie the Rampager” achievements depend on each other and you can’t unlock both in one playthrough. So, when you reach the already mentioned Sherwood (with or without survivals on the board – it won’t matter), you will have to choose between Jane or Harrison. Of course, if you choose Harrison – you will get “Guys Night Out” achievement and choosing Jane over Harrison will bring you “Rosie the Rampager.”

I Used to Be a Human Like You (5)

Shoot a Walker in the Knee with a Bolt

As you can see yourself – this achievement is rather a reference to the very popular meme in the web known as “I got an arrow in my knee.” So, what can I say? I used to be a human like you but then I got an arrow in my knee. And now I’m a zombie. Your task here is rather simple: after you obtain a crossbow, find a zombie, aim for his knee and send a bolt there. If you have some problems unlocking this achievement, simply try to aim a bit lower. You can also unlock this achievement when going after “Porcupine”.

this is how hot dogs are made.png
This Is How Hot Dogs Are Made (10)

10 Walkers Killed with Saw Blades in the Logging Camp

Unlocking this achievement is a lot easier than it sounds. In Act II, Level 5 you will be asked to choose one of the following locations: Oakview or Cleburne. As far as the required lumber yard is in Oakview, you need to choose this location and go there. It is really hard to miss the place because:
1. It’s an amazingly big building with lots of wood and special equipment;
2. One of the survivals will have a mission for you out there. Also, this survival will warn you about the dangerous blades and that it is not recommended to get caught by them or an instant death is what you can expect to get.
When you find yourself at the already mentioned lumber yard, you will find a slowly moving conveyor. Well, this is THE place. Now, all you have to do is to find zombies. But remember – that you can’t stand still on the conveyor or otherwise it will suck you in and kill. Find your first zombie (you can make a few go after you if you prefer – it won’t matter), draw his attention and run back to the conveyor. When zombies stand up on the conveyor, they will be slowly transported to the sharp blades and cut into pieces. If, for some reason, they are not moving or will try to get out – hit them with your melee weapon by pressing the “RB” and this will solve the problem. You can also do this faster by making a few zombies going after you but this can be dangerous if you are not ready to control the crowd. From time to time zombies will randomly go into the blades themselves and, for some reason, it will also count as a kill for the achievement. And the last but not the least: if you have problems finding zombies around, simply fire any kind of fire weapon and this will draw their attention. Also, if they are not far from the conveyer and can hear the sound of the broken glass, throw a glass bottle right under the blades and watch zombies cutting themselves into pieces.

boom who needs a headshot.jpg
BOOM! Who Needs a Headshot? (15)

Kill 5 Walkers with One Explosion

For unlocking this one you will have to have something flammable or explosive at your disposal. Usually, gas tanks, propane tanks and grenades work more than just great here. Now, the question is about the place and time. One of the first and most successful attempts to unlock “BOOM! Who Needs a Headshot?” was performed in Taggart location during Act II. Talk to Charlene Wilson and make your way to the back of the building. Not far from the truck there has to be a propane tank. From this point pay maximum attention and stick to the left. Drop the propane tank you have and kill 1 or 2 zombies coming your way. Again – pick it up and move to the wooden fence on your left (the one that keeps the naughty walkers from you). Step aside and wait for the walkers to break the wall. During this dramatic moment take out your gun (preferably, something with a sight or something that makes aiming a piece of cake) and when the wall is down and zombies are out – shoot the propane tank. This little trick should take down 6-7 zombies at least.
Another interesting way to complete this achievement is in Fontana location. Enter the area, and start gathering as many walkers as possible by drawing their attention (run past them, push them and do all the other stuff that usually you won’t do). When you have at least 5 zombies going after you – make your way to the broken truck in the center and jump on its tailgate, then – jump on the roof. At this point it is highly recommended to gather all your zombie fans to the passenger’s side of the truck. When you see that you have enough, choose a grenade from your equipment (we assume you have one) and throw it between the door and the nearest walker. If you did it well, the grenade won’t bounce much and will land exactly where you wanted. Count to three (not very fast) and jump off the truck but taking the driver’s side. Congratulations – you have the achievement in your hands or, better to say, scattered all over the place.
And one more nice location where you can get the achievement mentioned without any fuss and complicated geometry. While playing the mission with the Saw Mill, at a certain point you will come across an interactive car that has to be pushed to move further on. Well, push the car and block the gate. When you’re done, turn around and head straight forward. You might be forced to crouch as far as there will be some walkers chilling out but always ready to taste your flash. Rather sooner than later you are going to see a small fire and about 10 or even more walkers hanging around. But the best part – there will be two propane tanks on both sides of the fire. Pick the one you think is better and toss it forward into the group of walkers. When it’s in the right position – shoot the tank and it will blew from 6 up to 10 walkers in a blink of an eye.

Kill 4 Walkers in a Single Grapple Sequence

First of all, it is important to make it clear what Grapple is. When a zombie comes really close to you and you do nothing, he will grab you and will try to bite. This action has a certain animation and you are not going to miss it even if you want to. Well, your task is to be inattentive a bit and give an amazing opportunity to at least 4 zombies to perform a Single Grapple Sequence. Before you start doing that, make sure your health bar is full. Otherwise, you might die before completing the task. It doesn’t matter what kind of weapon you are going to have at your disposal: when the attack starts – your character will still automatically switch to the knife. At this point you task is to use the Right Stick and position the cursor over zombie’s head and then pull the “RT” button. This will stick the knife into his head.
The only trick here is that you are supposed to have at least 4 zombies in the area and they need to be close enough to attack you one after the other. Of course, there’s a plenty of places where you can find more than 4 zombies but you also need to remember that all the rest will be attacking you as well and it might turn into a real disaster and after unlocking the achievement you can actually die and restart the level. Well, this is not fatal but still – not desired. So, one of the best places to do this is during the very first mission of the Campaign (excluding the tutorial). Almost at the very end of the mission, when you start filling up a gas can, a big horde of zombies will start walking your way. Don’t do anything and wait for them to come closer. When you see that at least four walkers are around – let one of them grab you and it will start the animation. By the way – no matter how many zombies there are out there, they won’t attack you all in once when you are in the Grapple Mode and will wait for the attacking zombie to finish his job or for you to finish a zombie. So, deal with the first walker and move to the next one. Make sure you do not do anything else in between the Grapple Sequence or you will have to start everything all over again.

Prevent a Walker from Damaging You by Severing Its Attacking Limb

In order to unlock this achievement you will either have to have a shotgun or be using a Machine Gun at the very last mission. When you receive a shotgun, find a zombie and draw his attention. Start falling back and wait for the eater to pull his arms in your direction. Now, aim for the shoulder area and shoot his arm off. This should unlock the achievement. The only rule here – do not let the zombie hit you even once. As for the .50 Cal Machine Gun, it can make things even easier. When you finally find yourself in the Stadium area and get a chance to use a machine gun, wait for zombies to start coming at you and aim for the shoulder area. When you “disarm” (literary) one of the walkers, you will receive a pop up message.

Dismiss a Survivor

Unlocking this achievement will come to you naturally and at this point it is just a matter of time. As you progress through the game, you are going to meet lots of different people that will ask you to take them with you. If you agree to take them all with you, at the end of your very first mission you will have 1 Obligatory Survivor, and 2 optional. As far as your car allows you to take only 2 extra passengers, you will be forced to leave one behind. Choose whomever you find is not likely to be helpful and leave him behind. This action is called “Dismiss a Survivor” and will unlock you the achievement instantly. You can also dismiss your survivors at any point of your travel but before your enter the actual mission.

5 Survivors Were Killed While Scavenging

Unlocking this achievement shouldn’t be hard as long as you do not care about the people who come with you. First of all, to increase the number of scavenges, you can take the Highway which will cause the car to break a lot more. Now, make your survivals to search for those things that are the hardest to find and seem to be the most risky ones. Even if your survivors are back and are back with nothing but injuries and low health – do not provide any medical attention and just keep driving the highway to break the car again. Send the survivals out to explore the territory using the very same endangering strategy and, what is really important, do not give them any kind of weapon for protection. One by one your survivals with start dying, making your closer to the desired achievement. It is also believed that when you are going for either “Guys Night Out” or “Rosie the Rampager” achievements (achievements where only men or women are supposed to survive in your group), you can send the other gender to explore the area and they will get the higher risks of being bitten and turned into zombies.

Killed 5 Walkers in the Cabot Ridge Creek Bed

Unlocking this achievement should be a part of your natural progression unless you decide to run away when you see zombies for the first time. So, here’s how it’s ganna be: start playing the game, follow all the instructions and go hunting. Pretty soon you are going to hear a man screaming which will scare the deer off. Almost immediately you will also see lots of zombies (at least 10 or so) coming your way. Those are THE zombies killing which will count as an achievement kill. So, just use your rifle to take them down but make sure that you kill at least 5. Though, you are not likely to receive a pop up message yet notifying you about the successful zombie hunt and only when you finish the prologue, you will get the achievement and 10G points that come with it.

Perished 13 Times

Killing your character is, probably, the easiest thing in this game and you are not even supposed to try hard to complete this task. While you can boost it whenever you want, I would recommend going after this achievement in your very first mission. Just come to the nearest zombie, draw his attention and then do nothing. You won’t have to wait long and rather sooner than later zombie will turn you into a hot meal and you will have to press the restart button. Do the very same thing 12 more times and unlock the achievement. You are also very likely to get this through during your natural progression but if you are not interested in counting deaths – you should do it the way described above.
