Xbox 360 Bioshock

Has anyone here played any of the Bioshock games on Xbox 360? I was reading a review of the upcoming Bioshock: Infinite and, along with screenshots, the game sounds (and looks) very promising. I'm not very familiar with the series, though. Can I just pick up with the 3rd game, or do I need to play the first two games beforehand?

I have a few times but I have honestly never gotten into it and I can not put my finger on why. Every other game similar to this I have played and most times enjoyed. When I play a game in a set I tend to play them in order but I would think it depends on how you feel about it. Would you watch the 3rd movie without seeing the first two?
