The Devil May Cry HD Collection’s best assets are its price and the sheer quantity of content. But as years have gone by, the camera stands out as a sore spot on this iconic action series. The combat, difficulty, and highly-critical rating system make it an exciting piece of gaming history and worth checking out if you missed it the first time around.

Though Devil May Cry 2’s faults required more than just an HD makeover, we won’t let one bad apple spoil the bunch. For $40, we’re finally getting two of the most extensive and excellent action games of all time, with a decent HD makeover. And that’s a deal worth smiling about.

Devil May Cry helped transform the action genre, and despite its sophomore stumble, it remains a defining franchise in gaming history. This collection is a good way to revisit the two best games in the series, though it may be better suited to newcomers than gamers who just want to relive their favorite moments.

Although the games may not have aged as well as hoped, fans of the series are still going to be getting their money worth with the convenience of having three games on one disc, nearly 100 achievements, and some behind the scenes bonus content.
