A friend of mine was telling me about Dying Light. Apparently it's like a Call of Duty meets Resident Evil type game... a first person shooter/survival game I think. Anyone here playing it? I'm thinking about buying it but I'm just not sure yet if I wanna shell out the full $60 for it.

Not yet. I watched a couple YouTube videos of the game play and it looks nice, but still undecided.

I'm borrowing the game from a friend, been playing it since Saturday or Sunday. It's alright but I'm not sold on paying full price for it yet. Graphics are good but I'm just not really drawn into the story line yet.

It's an excellent game that seems mostly parkour and you play as a character who is very sensitive to any damage. Just try it out and don't be upset when you lose your health in ridiculous ways.

I've played the demo and I must say it's rather great fun. The entire concept is great and well implemented, the visuals are amazing and the parkour is great fun in first person. The thing I hate is that the DLC for Dying Light is actually bigger than the game itself! Techland took a little too much inspiration from EA when it came to marketing the game, which is a shame. One thing that surprised me is how great Chrome Engine, a game engine I have never heard of, looked. The sun set visuals look beautiful and it gives the game a generally warm feel, which I enjoy.

We've got that game here at the house and I like really like it. It reminds me of a lot of different games and it keeps me on my toes and interested.

the DLC for Dying Light is actually bigger than the game itself!

I didn't know this! I have Dying Light but I haven't beaten it yet, so I haven't started looking into DLC. I might have to buy the DLC for this game (buying DLC is not something I usually do) if that's the case.

I wasn't aware that the DLC for Dying Light is bigger than Dying Light, either. That seems weird. Shouldn't the game always be the largest download? Why would DLC be larger?

This game is so awesome, nothing but praise here. The cool thing is that the DLC support seems like it wont be ending anytime soon, so as long as you buy the game and enjoy it, you won't ever quite be "done" with it. I'd personally give it maybe 4.2~4.5/5 stars? Not perfect but so uniquely itself that it deserves a ton of praise

Well maybe it's just me then, but I've played dying light a few times but ended up giving it to a friend because I just couldn't seem to get into it like the rest of you guys have.

I normally enjoy games like that but there was just something about it that didn't grip me and make me want to carry on playing and for me that's something I always look for in a game.

I think there is definitely a slow zone in the beginning, but for the most part, it ramps up after a while and gets more and more intense. Without giving too much away, there is a point in the game where things are distinctly more awesome and it just feels like you against the world

So maybe I just didn't give the game enough of a chance your saying then? That could be an issue as I'm not the most patient gamer when it comes to games that as you say start off slow.

Yeah, the thing about dying light is that if you're into the genre, you have certain expectations that other similar games have that follow the sort of dark zombie esque theme, but in dying light, you have to work through a bit of a grind before it gets really fun.

The graphics are good, the story is good, but I wouldn't rush paying the full price for this game if I were you. It kind of reminds me of an older game, quake 3 or something like that was it's name. As others have said, in the beginning it's very slow, but fortunately it grows in intensity, however I never finished it as I got kind of bored and I never was a big fan of this genre.

^ Yeah I'm already out of there with this one. The game is good, don't get me wrong, but I didn't hesitate to sell it after my playthrough, good but not like oh wow this is amazing good.

For me, these days there's too many games that are like dying light, and like you say, good but not really anything special, and its as if the software houses are getting complacent.

Dying light for me was an average game that could and should have been so much more than it was, and that's a shame.

Even though personally I'm not a huge fan of the game, I know that a lot if people are so if it's your sort of game it's probably worth having a look at.

The price as come down a bit aswell now so even though I didn't think it was worth paying the full price for, depending in how cheap you can pick it up, it's worth considering if you can get it at a budget price.
