I've had my Xbox 360 for around a year now. I haven't played a lot of games because my brother took all the good ones with him when he moved out. Anyway, if one person has Xbox 360 and the other has One, can they add each other on Xbox live? And then, if they can add each other, can they play a game online (let's say Gears of War for example) together, or no because they don't have the same console?

I've never played Gears of War by the way, and I've never played games online because my parents won't let me connect my Xbox to the internet. I played on my brother's while he was here and I made my Xbox live account, but I don't remember, do you have to have a gold account thing to play with other people online, or no?
