Xbox One Live Sharks Are Guarding the Xbox One Ahead of Launch

If anyone does try and gets eaten up by sharks... people will put the blame on Microsoft.

wont happen. sharks in captivity are very well fed. hence why they can live with bait fish and not be hunting them all the time. with the way aquariums showcase fish, rays and such you should/would see sharks killing stuff on the regular but you dont.

honestly sharks are more of a curious animal... or mistaken identity. people free dive with massive sharks and hand feed them with very little issues or attacks. where attacks happen is in low visability light and generally mistaken identity.

i would actually feed quite ok with diving in that tank to get the box out.

good vid of shark diving.
have to get to around 2+min to just see free diving and not feeding.

on a side not most aquariums keep only a few species of shark. the lemon, nurse, sand tiger.

the sand tiger is proably the laziest but has the mouth full of teeth.
the lemon is quite lazy as well. the ounger ones have fight but anything over 5ft they tend to be lazy
nurse sharks lol. not really anything
atlantic white tips are one of the other normally captive
the hammer heads you see are not great hammers usually a scalloped,or bonnet heads.

only a few tmes in captivity has great white or a few other various big species been captive. the great white was captive in california but was a newborn at 8ft long. they were able to keep it captive for 3 weeks but it would eat everything it could find and did so they released it.

Leave it to Microsoft to find new and innovative ways to build hype and grasp people's attention.

Hahahahaha I can't be the only one that finds this ridiculous. It sounds like a 10 year old came up with this idea.

thought about the same thing! haha But consider it, your talking about it, people read this kind of stuff, and the headline "SHARKS GUARD XBOX" is surely attracting a huge amount or readers. Marketing is a *****, yeah. You just have to roll with it

those sharks look gorgeous!
I am extremely curios who will the guy collecting the console be. haha
I hope they feed the sharks beforehand, just in case :D

I am hearing reports that one of the sharks has taken the console. His gametag is xXMLG1337ShArKXx and I'm hearing that he's been banned from Xbox Live now because of his actions.

Some interesting facts you've shared there and since your nick is "sc_shark" and you have a picture with a shark in your avatar I'm gonna trust you on this one. Kinda made it sound like sharks are the bulldogs of the sea (people say they're really aggressive but they aren't unless provoked/hungry... like humans!)

they mean no harm jut no arms lol. they reach out and say hi with a mouth full of teeth.

not that it matters but when you hear of an attack its usually a bite and realizes we are not its typical food.

for all general purposes sharks are ambush hunters.. they tend to come come up.. if you watch shark week you notice before they take a bite their is a eyelid type of membrain that goes over their eye to protect it from getting hit or general damage to the eye... so they are basically attacking off senses.. its not like they see board shorts and brite colors and say humm thats odd.

Thanks for the awesome info, sc_shark!
Seems like its not a purely XBOX forum, but a place where you can even learn about sharks. haha

lol just found this on a live news feed.

World's First Xbox One Guarded by Sharks in New Zealand; Shark Expert Questions Effectiveness
"You would have nothing to worry about if you fell into a tank of sand tiger sharks—they are rather docile," explains Carl Meyer, shark expert and assistant researcher at the Hawaii Institute of Marine Biology. "Even with [much bigger] tiger sharks, the most likely case scenario is that they would startle and bolt to the other side of the tank."

Many big aquariums have sand tiger sharks on display because, while they may look frightening given their teeth and being sharks and all, they are relatively easy to keep in captivity. Meyer doesn't recommend jumping into a shark tank to retrieve anything, even Xboxes. But it's not humans' safety that he's worried about.

"I wouldn't recommend falling/diving into a shark exhibit, mainly because the sharks may get startled and injure themselves by swimming into walls," he says. "The odds of being bitten by a shark (or 20 sharks) in an exhibit are incredibly low if you are just entering the water. You could up the odds of getting bitten by poking and harassing the shark(s) in question, but they will still try to get away from you.

lol. I bet they are more worried about the Xbox then the guys planning to retrieve it.

JUMPING into the tank sure would be a dumb idea. I would guess there would be no issue if entering calmly if you don't actively try to mess with the sharks.

Sharks truly are the bulldogs of the sea, huh?

basically yea. you could proably cannon ball in the tank and everything would scatter. i have caught quite a few sand tiger sharks they are known for being lazy logs.. they dont move and usually you dont really know they are hooked. (also known for guy hooks) actually my profile pic is of a 9ft sand tiger.

my buddy brian showing how big it is from the side
