What are some kid friendly games on the Xbox that you would recommend?
 
Some of the first games I played with my son were the Lego series. Lego Star Wars specifically was the first. They are actually pretty clever and appeal to adults as well as children. Some of the humor will be above the kids but it is not vulgar. They have fighting but the bad guys just break apart into Legos. Combat is button mashing so it's pretty easy to pick up.

Thanks for the heads up. That sounds like a perfect game to get for my nephew.
