All,

Just saw this video today showcasing the power of Kinect:

Enjoy!

But maybe the best part of all this is that if you don't want to run full-speed into the future, or cede control of your channel surfing to a Kinect or Xbox controller, you don't have to. All of this just sits on top of what you already had. So any luddites who are particularly set in their ways remain completely undisrupted while you shout at your TV and giggle to yourself with glee.

It's a pretty impressive suite of functionality, and it's exciting to start seeing it really come together in person. And even better is the fact that this box also plays really terrific video games. The set-top box part is its part-time job. But anything worth doing is worth doing well, and the Xbox One seems to know that. Yes, we're excited to play Titanfall. But hot damn, changing channels is going to be awesome too.

All looks well with the dashboard, despite all the earlier reports about it being buggy and not at all ready. This seems to be one of the best improvements to come to the Xbox One and is very exciting to see it running in real time. Imagine what this will look like in 5 years time; the possibilities are endless. What do you guys think of the video?

You beat me to this post lol IGN also has a better video so I'll have that up one they upload to youtube. The dash looks awesome and the Kinect looks very responsive. If this video doesn't silence the naysayers, nothing ever will.

Before, I thought that Kinect is not really useful, but now ...
Kinect surprise me and I think it has its place in our living room.

I like the fact that the Kinect will automatically connect. Fluency to switch from application to application without loading. Just that is a fairly significant change in my eyes.

Kinect offers so many features it is said that the extra $ 100 worth it. Wow ... So this is the power of next-gen consoles.

Sorry dude! I couldn't resist posting this awesome video. And I agree, Xbox One is going to be awesome!

I know! When I envisioned the future as a child, I thought we'd have this type of functionality! Now we do! Welcome to the future... Well, at least Xbox One (soon to be) owners!

SEE!!! YEAH!! And this is why the extra $100 bucks for THIS exp. is worth it.

I didn't think the first Kinect was that bad, but it seemed like they rushed its release. This one looks promising but I'm still not in love with the concept overall. I generally think its inclusion with the Xbox One to be a gimmick to get people curious about it, regardless of how well it works. I certainly wouldn't mind having one, but I'm at least going to wait until the first price drop (whenever that is).

Well, Kinect definitely has a load of promise that will take MS to utilize. If we get "gimmicky" type games, then it's only purpose will be to control TV and dashboard functionality.

watched it on my 360 today.. looks really good. the kinect stuff is really cool and quite scary at the sametime.

the dashboard looks decent and response looks better than the 360. kinda hope it orks that way on all systems and not just the demo stuff.

i want to see how apps really work tho.. amazon, hulu, netflix and all that. i liked how you can add your own channel/content to the ones's tv navigation. but they did not show dedicated apps..

I really like how the new dashboard looks. It looks fast and snappy.
I also love the Metro design so it's not a surprise that I like the X1 dashboard since it's so similar. Can't wait to get my Xbox One so I can try it for myself.

some news on the stability of kinect/voice. its fox news so take it with a grain of salt.

grabbed a few quotes from a full article:

Like a stubborn family member or insubordinate employee, Xbox One owners might need to tell their fancy new console what to do more than once.
They probably had to repeat themselves a couple of times for it to work.
At a demonstration of the Xbox One this week organized by Microsoft, the new version of the company's voice-and-motion-detecting Kinect sensor didn't work nearly as flawlessly in real life. The Xbox 360 successor, which is scheduled for release Nov. 22, required several commands to be repeated for the response to pop up on screen.

During a private 45-minute presentation showcasing the console's media and entertainment capabilities, about 10 of 45 voice commands issued had to be repeated by a Microsoft spokesman -- some as many as four times. Kinect didn't immediately detect such orders as "Xbox, watch ESPN" and "Xbox, Bing movies with Sandra Bullock" during the demo.

"Everything you're seeing here is going to get better," promised Jose Pinero, senior director of marketing and public relations for Xbox, at the conclusion of Wednesday's demo. "Right now, we're still a couple of weeks away but voice, the more you use it and the more the system learns, the more accurate it becomes. We're still working on fit and finish."

if it is tru i have said this for months.. i don't expect kinect voice to be 100% out of box by any means but with time i can see it getting better. this is also why they won't package without kinect.

all in all im not hurt over the news a i dont know if i will hook up kinect in the room. if it goes in the living room odds are it wil but i am still in the air.

Damn, this is something that looks like taken from future. I still cant belive it. The best are Skype gestures. It will simplify video chat soo much. I own kinect now and I am really disappointed how buggy and lagging is everything, hope that One fix all the problems. If they do, it will def be worth its price.

Well, it is still in pre-release video and everything is set up so in reality it probably still is buggy and they will have to work a lot to make it run smoothly. Atleast thats what I read online.

Yea, skype is awesome, but the best thing is how smooth can you switch aps and browse through menus. I dont know how will you use talk recognision in case you have house full of noises(kids, dog...) There are plenty of things that need to be fixed... All is ok with voice comands if you sit in a quiet room which is pretty unreal in real world...

Yes, thats probably true, but I bet that when they release it they will fix all that stuff as its their parade horse and they cant afford that kind of fail. Look at Apple maps :D Hope they all learned from that!

Maybe they will set up voice recognition and only owner of acc will be able to give it commands? Or most probably they will sell keyboards (Bluetooth ones) like they do now!

Hahahaha Apple maps really were failure for Apple but win for Google maps and bing maps!I hope that they release it after they fix all the bugs. That voice recognition would be a bit too much sci-fi xD Keyboards are more real.

Well, when we are talking about kinect we should even think about how much sci0fi it is lel. If we start thinking, we can see that it wont be long before hackers and goverment will start spying on us. If they have aces to our voice, video and basicly everything, we have no privacy at all!

Well, they will probably upgrade security stuff too and there will probably be antivirus for xbox anytime soon. Bout government. What do you have to hide? lol!

There is nothing I would need to hide, but the last thing I need is NSA spiing my hose and watch me play games with peopple. I mean, how can you say such stupid things? I thought peopel are more aware of problems with control since Edward Snowden, but looks like they are still people like you, that find nothing wrong with that... ih.

I was kidding. Didn't you saw my "lol" at the end of my post... I am aware of that and I dont like it, but what can we do? We need to accept it and live with it and do stuff that is normal(Dont email people with guns from mid east)
