Xbox 360 The Towel Trick

Does this actually work?
It's like putting a fan under your laptop right? It stops it for a while, but not forever.

When my first 360 happened to RROD 5 or 6 years ago I tried this and it would provide a temporary fix in the beginning. Unfortunately the RROD problems became too frequent and long-lasting and I ended up having to send my 360 off for replacement.

this method was for people who's xbox was past warranty and it's only meant to be a temporary fix while they raise funds for a new xbox. If you tried it expecting for it to just magically go away instead of sending it back then...ya...

I did the towel trick one time and it worked. It lasted for about two weeks and then died again. Then I did the whole pasted the chip back on thing. It made it work for another good week. Tried to do the towel trick again but it didn't work.

It's a design flaw that is causing the problems.

I've never had to try the towel trick and I hope I never have to... but I'd probably be too scared to anyways. I wouldn't trust a towel when there are other, better methods.

Does this trick still work even if your Xbox 360 gets the 4 red rings of death or is it too late? Because me and my dad had I think a over 15 year old Xbox 360 that got it and If we could fix it. It would make my family's day. And he has the original Xbox and can the same thing happen to it. And the tv we have which is a kinda new Samsung tv doesn't work with it but our dad got a adapter from Xbox themselves for the original Xbox so it should work because we use the Xbox 360 and a switch with the TV and it does it fine?
