Tracking Achievement Progress In-game

I wonder why more games don't feature a progress bar for the various achievements. It sure would be nice to know how many more of something I need to score the 'cheevo rather than just relying on guesswork.

I do agree with this comment. I would like to track how I'm playing too. It's nice to know that you only have so much farther to hit a goal or the next level. I wonder why the games don't have tracking bars too.

This feature is number one on my wish list for just about any game I've ever played. I'm very achievement-oriented and something like this would be a great motivational tool. It's not like I need any motivation to play, but you know what I mean. Being able to monitor your progress as you play would be really cool.

I doubt anyone would mind having this feature on more games, so does anyone have any idea why they don't do it? Is it pure laziness, or do they think it's a nice surprise when you reach a new achievement or checkpoint?
