Below are the achievements for Tropico 4, along with the number of achievement points you’ll receive and a summary on how to get each achievement.
Tropico 4 Achievement List
Filthy Rich (20)
Make $100 000 for your Swiss Bank account in a mission
This is the final task in Mission 17: 'Forgiveness', but you can get it earlier. Start a mission and build a ministry. Appoint a minister of economy and then go to ‘Economy and Tourism’ tab and select ‘Building Permit’. As you progress through the mission, you will get money into your Swiss account for every new building you purchase. You can even build a Customs Office and set it to ‘Custom Evasion’.
Tropican Fiesta (50)
Finish a game with overall Happiness of your citizens above 70%
You can get this in almost all missions, provided you don’t complete the tasks for ending the mission itself. Prepare by, first, altering your avatar and removing ‘Cheapskate’ as a trait. Improve the overall happiness of the people to above 60%, and then progress through the scenario requirements and collect a lot of money.
Curse of the Llama (10)
Survive 10 disasters
You need to survive a total of 10 disasters in one mission. The disasters will occur randomly during the campaign, and there is no way to trigger them. If you miss out on this achievement during the campaign, you can start a Sandbox game and set ‘Random Events’ to ‘Plenty’ and length to maximum. You will be able to get a disaster every 2-3 years, and the achievement will unlock once you survive ten.
Coup de Grace (10)
Suppress a Military Coup
Start by building an armory and then avoid paying the Generals. You will start getting warnings from your adviser about an imminent coup if you don’t improve the militarists’ happiness. When the coup eventually breaks out, you have to defeat it with just your palace guards in order to unlock the achievement.
Homes for Everyone (20)
Have population of over 300 and no Shacks
When you start the mission, don’t build houses first. Concentrate on getting mines and farms to boost the economy. Buy a ministry, a minister of foreign affairs and a foreign office. Use ‘Praise the USSR’ so that you can get ‘USSR Development Aid’. Use this edict to build apartment blocks where shacks are located and then use the ‘Free Housing’ edict.
God Complex (10)
Finish a Sandbox game in God mode
On the title screen, select ‘Sandbox’ and then go to Game Settings and activate God Mode. Set the minimum game length so that you complete this quickly enough. There is nothing much you are required to do in God mode, you can just wait and confirm any spam messages from your people.
Elitist (30)
Construct 1337 buildings
You will eventually unlock this during the campaign missions. The count is cumulative over all missions so you just need to keep building.
Top Exporter (20)
Earn $1 000 000 from industry in a single game
Depending on the resources of your country, build some farms for producing coffee, sugar, tobacco – or gold mines. After that, build the corresponding factories and start earning money from exports. Some of the most lucrative exports include Weapons, Rum and Cigar.
Iron Fist (15)
Suppress an uprising
During Mission 10, ‘Independence Day’, there will be an uprising, even if your overall happiness is much higher than 50%. You are required to build a radio station, which will be taken over by rebels. You will have to send your soldiers to deal with them. After, you will have to change your Ministry to People’s Committee and win over 130 revolutionists. There will be another uprising later which you have to suppress in order to win the campaign mission and unlock the achievement.
Heavy Traffic (15)
Construct at least 1000 meters of roads and 4 Garages
You will unlock this naturally as you progress. Once you reach the numbers required, the achievement will pop.
Metropolis (20)
Construct 200 buildings on one island
This achievement is easy and you will get it naturally as you progress. The moment you construct 200 buildings on the same island, the achievement will unlock.
Militarist (15)
Have more than 20 soldiers and generals in one game
Start by building 4 Armories, 4 Army Bases and several guard stations. You can speed up the process by building a high school and college and switching them to military education.
Paradise Island (20)
Earn $1 000000 from tourism profits in a single game
Start by building a tourist block, many hotels and tourist attractions. Promote your island using the Tourism edicts. It takes some time to reach a million. The best place to get this is Mission 12, ‘The Olympic Heist’, where you will have to rely only on tourism, logging and sugar.
Dictatorship for Dummies (10)
Finish all tutorial missions
This is easy and will also prove helpful as you will get to learn all that is required about Tropico. Once you have completed all tutorials, the achievement will unlock.
Domestic Agenda (20)
Complete 10 Faction tasks in a single mission
The factions will give you some tasks to accomplish. These are mainly easy activities like destroying logging camps, building churches and so on. The tasks are represented by a blue (!) on the map.
National Agenda (10)
Complete 20 agenda tasks in a single mission
Agenda tasks pop randomly on the map and are represented by a red (!). They can sometimes be optional, but most of them will help you complete the mission you are on. For this achievement, you have to complete 20 achievements in one mission.
Foreign Agenda (20)
Complete 10 Foreign tasks in a single mission
Other countries will give you tasks to accomplish. These pop as blue (!) on the map. They involve things like paying money, exporting products and other simple tasks. Complete ten of these foreign tasks to unlock this achievement.
War on Crime (10)
Arrest 10 Criminals in a single mission
You can achieve this easily during Mission 16, Operation End Game’. At the start of the mission, once you have exported 1000 goods, Brunhilde will ‘offer’ to send 10 criminals onto your island. Decline the offer, and concentrate on building 2 prisons and getting 10 policemen. Later, Brunhilde will drop the 10 criminals on the beach of your island. Send your policemen to arrest all of them and you will unlock the achievement.
The Full Monty (10)
Have a full Ministry cabinet
Build ministries and recruit ministers to head each of them. Once you have a full cabinet, the achievement will unlock.
You are Fired! (10)
Fire a Minister because of his gaffe
Your ministers will randomly commit gaffes, so you should always make sure you have some working for you. Penultimo will inform you whenever a gaffe happens so that you can fire the minister and unlock the achievement.
Your Lucky Day (30)
Hire an unemployed citizen as a Minister
Start a mission and build a ministry immediately. Lock all job slots on all buildings, fire the minister for defense from the palace and lock all the job slots there too. He will show up as ‘Unemployed’ under Almanac - > List -> Residents - Education -> High School. Proceed to nominate him as minister of defense.
The Golf Balls Solution (20)
Clean an Oil Spill in less than 4 months
Oil spills are random. There is nothing specific that you can do to trigger them.
Oil spills occur randomly and there is nothing that you can do to trigger them. When an oil spill occurs, move to clean it up immediately. This will cost you about $40000 - $50000. Once you are done, the achievement will unlock.
Year Of the Dragon (20)
Put out 10 buildings on fire in a single mission
Once you have a few fire stations, the fire firefighters will respond automatically to any fires. The best mission to get this is #10, ‘Independence Day’. You can also get it very easily during Mission 15, ‘Best Served Cold’. There will be continuous sabotage as you try to build houses. Just put on hold the building of mansions and condos until you have unlocked this achievement.
Old Faithful (20)
Survive 3 Volcanic eruptions in a single mission
You will unlock this naturally as you progress. Most islands have a volcano, which can erupt randomly. The volcanic eruptions will not kill you, so you just have to experience three of them for the achievement to unlock.
Tornado Valley (20)
Survive a Tornado Outbreak with no human casualties
You don’t need a fully upgraded weather station for this. All you need is the upgrade that detects tornadoes. This will prevent deaths when tornadoes occur and you will unlock the achievement.
Modern Agriculture (20)
Have no dry fields at the end of a Drought
During drought, look for any dry fields and water them manually. You will get a warning when a drought is about to happen so you should constantly search for dry fields once you get the warning. Select the option to limit wastage of water by the people and the achievement will be easy to unlock.
Head for High Ground (20)
Survive a Tsunami with no human casualties
You don’t need a fully upgraded weather station to get this. All you need is the upgrade that detects tsunamis. You need electricity in order to purchase this upgrade. It will prevent random death when a tsunami occurs and you will unlock the achievement.
Building Blues (20)
Unlock 20 Blueprints in a single mission
You will unlock this naturally as you progress. Just buy all the blueprints in the building tabs you can find and the achievement will unlock once you reach 20.
The Power of the Atom (30)
Generate 1 000 MW of electricity in a Nuclear Power Plant
Start by building a nuclear plant. Ensure you have enough import funds and space on the freighter for importing Uranium. You can change the values on the dock to the required amounts. Next, fully staff you power plant. With time, your staff members will gain experience and the amount of electricity generated will increase until you unlock the achievement.
Nuclear Future (30)
Have a Nuclear Power Plant and a Nuclear Program built on your island
This is easy enough. As long as you can have a nuclear plant and a nuclear program at the same time anywhere on the island, you will unlock this achievement.
Made In China (30)
Distribute more than 1 000 Luxury Goods from a Shopping mall
During the Mission, ‘No One Left Behind’, you will be required to build 2 shopping malls. Switch one of them to ‘Outlet Store’. You will be able to sell 1000 goods within a short time. This achievement can also be unlocked during other missions.
Smells Like Chemistry (10)
Buy all upgrades for a Chemical Plant
This is fairly easy. Just build a Chemical Plant and purchase all the upgrades required in order to unlock this achievement.
Mona Llama (15)
Earn more than $30 000 from selling Tropican art in a Museum of Modern Art
Build a museum of modern art and switch it to ‘Promote Tropican Art’. It should be able to sell enough art to unlock the achievement in a short time.
Special Taxes (15)
Gain $15 000 for your Swiss account from a Customs Office
Build a Customs office and switch it to ‘Custom Duty Evasion’. You should be able to unlock the achievement with time as your exports keep going.
The Rumors of my Death... (20)
Have one of your clones die instead of you during an assassination attempt
Establish a secret police, and when they discover an assassin, send a clone after him. The assassin is likely to shoot your clone at some point and the achievement will unlock. Alternatively, you can establish an academy of science, so that when any assassin tries to shoot you, they will get your clone instead.
It's a Trap! (30)
Kill 5 rebels at once with a trap in your Mausoleum
Start by buying a mausoleum and upgrade it with booby traps without using Military Modernization. Ensure that your people are not happy so that they keep converting to rebels until they outnumber your army. You can get this achievement best in Mission 6, ‘Bickering Factions’ and Mission 13, ‘The Blind Revolution’. Use the edict ‘Lure the rebels’ to attract them to your mausoleum so that you can kill them.
Theme Park (10)
Have a Roller Coaster near a Ferris Wheel and an Aqua park
This is simple enough. Just build an Aqua park, Ferris wheel and Roller coaster next to each other and you will unlock the achievement.
Prepared For Everything (15)
Buy all upgrades for a Weather Station
You will come across this achievement when you are playing for “Head for High Ground” and “Tornado Valley”. Once your Weather Station is fully upgraded, you will unlock the achievement.
Past and Present (15)
Have both a Dungeon and a Colonial Museum in the same mission
During Mission 4, ‘IMPORTant Business’, and Mission 12, ‘The Olympic Heist’, you get a chance to upgrade two existing ruins on the map. Convert one into a museum and the other into a dungeon to unlock this achievement.
Competent (15)
Have Character Trait at level 5
When starting a new mission, choose ‘Custom Avatar’ and select ‘Traits’ on the last page. You are required to upgrade all these traits to the maximum level. Each time you finish one campaign mission; all selected traits will increase by one level. Once on of your character traits reaches level 5, the achievement will unlock.
Specialist (25)
Have 3 Character Traits at level 5
When starting a new mission, choose ‘Custom Avatar’ and select ‘Traits’ on the last page. You are required to upgrade all these traits to the maximum level. Each time you finish one campaign mission; all selected traits will increase by one level. Once you have 3 character traits at level 5, you will unlock this achievement.
Expert (30)
Have all Character Traits at level 5
When starting a new mission, choose ‘Custom Avatar’ and select ‘Traits’ on the last page. You are required to upgrade all these traits to the maximum level. Each time you finish one campaign mission; all selected traits will increase by one level. You will have to complete 51 missions or Sandbox games in order to unlock this achievement.
Foreign Cuisine (20)
Import 2 000 food
Purchases several market places and allow them to import food and the achievement will unlock eventually. You can speed it up by not building any corn farms, ranches or fishermen’s wharves.
IMPORTant business (30)
Import 10 000 resources
You will get this during campaign mission 4: ‘IMPORTant Business’. You have to import 10000 resources before the achievement unlocks. You can speed it up by building some industries and allowing imports for them.
Kill Juanito (15)
Issue an Execution order on a citizen called Juanito
Send some Army men to go to the Almanac -> Lists -> Residents - Origin and keep looking for someone called Juanito. He will most likely come from Spain, but other countries are also possible. Once you find him, direct your Army men to kill him.
Instant Construction (10)
Issue the Quick-build command on 10 constructions
Purchase a building, and instead of letting the people build it, go to the construction site and select ‘Quick Build’. Repeat this for a total of ten buildings in order to unlock the achievement.
Tropico VS The World (20)
Made Tropico the best country on the planet
You will unlock this achievement once you complete the campaign Mission 5, ‘Tropico Above All’.
Scapegoat (20)
You escaped the wrath of your opponents
You will get this achievement when you complete campaign Mission 8, ‘Survival’.
The Mastermind (30)
Found out who the Mastermind behind your downfall is
You will get this achievement when you finish campaign Mission 17, ‘Forgiveness’.
On Top of the World (50)
Fulfilled Presidente's dreams for Tropico
You will get this achievement when you finish campaign Mission 20, ‘Tropican Utopia’.
Office Space (30)
Have a Babel Tower with 50 employees
You get to unlock the Babel Tower in 1996. After that, build it under Welfare & Economy structures. This will cost you $120,000, plus an upkeep of $120 per month and it requires 50 MW of electricity. Next, hire 50 uneducated foreign employees to fill the building quickly and you will unlock the achievement.
Better Than Tenements (30)
Have a Ziggurat with 50 families as tenants
You get to unlock Ziggurat in 1994. After that, build it under Housing structures. This will cost you $100,000, plus an upkeep of $150 per month and it requires 100 MW of electricity. You can make it easier by setting the rent for the Ziggurat to $1 and raising the rent for all other types of housing by a big margin. This will help you fill up the Ziggurat more quickly.
Capo Di Tutti Capi (20)
Renovate your Palace
There are four requirements you have to meet before you can unlock this achievement. First, you need to reach a population of 250. Second, you need to have at least $20,000 in your Swiss Bank Account. Third, you need to reach 60% in population happiness, and finally, you must pay $20,000 from the Treasury for your ‘Presidency’. Once you complete the last requirement, your palace will quick-upgrade automatically.
Going Green (20)
Build 4 Bio Farms and 4 Organic Ranches in a single mission
Bio Farms and Organic Ranches become available from 1970 to 1975. Ranches will cost you $4000 and farms $5000, without any discounts.
Heaven On Earth (20)
Build a Diamond Cathedral before 1990
You get to unlock the Diamond Cathedral around 1988. It will cost you $40,000 to build and unlock the achievement.
A Better Tourist Trap (30)
Build an Aerodrome and a Seven-star hotel in a single mission
You will unlock the Seven-Star hotel in 1979 to replace the High-Rise Hotel. It will cost you $30,000 to build. The Aerodrome unlocks in 1983 to replace the Airport. It will cost you $24,000. Once you have both, the achievement will unlock.

You will come across this achievement when you are playing for “Head for High Ground” and “Tornado Valley”. Once your Weather Station is fully upgraded, you will unlock the achievement.
Past and Present (15)
Have both a Dungeon and a Colonial Museum in the same mission
During Mission 4, ‘IMPORTant Business’, and Mission 12, ‘The Olympic Heist’, you get a chance to upgrade two existing ruins on the map. Convert one into a museum and the other into a dungeon to unlock this achievement.
Competent (15)
Have Character Trait at level 5
When starting a new mission, choose ‘Custom Avatar’ and select ‘Traits’ on the last page. You are required to upgrade all these traits to the maximum level. Each time you finish one campaign mission; all selected traits will increase by one level. Once on of your character traits reaches level 5, the achievement will unlock.
Specialist (25)
Have 3 Character Traits at level 5
When starting a new mission, choose ‘Custom Avatar’ and select ‘Traits’ on the last page. You are required to upgrade all these traits to the maximum level. Each time you finish one campaign mission; all selected traits will increase by one level. Once you have 3 character traits at level 5, you will unlock this achievement.
Expert (30)
Have all Character Traits at level 5
When starting a new mission, choose ‘Custom Avatar’ and select ‘Traits’ on the last page. You are required to upgrade all these traits to the maximum level. Each time you finish one campaign mission; all selected traits will increase by one level. You will have to complete 51 missions or Sandbox games in order to unlock this achievement.
Foreign Cuisine (20)
Import 2 000 food
Purchases several market places and allow them to import food and the achievement will unlock eventually. You can speed it up by not building any corn farms, ranches or fishermen’s wharves.
IMPORTant business (30)
Import 10 000 resources
You will get this during campaign mission 4: ‘IMPORTant Business’. You have to import 10000 resources before the achievement unlocks. You can speed it up by building some industries and allowing imports for them.
Kill Juanito (15)
Issue an Execution order on a citizen called Juanito
Send some Army men to go to the Almanac -> Lists -> Residents - Origin and keep looking for someone called Juanito. He will most likely come from Spain, but other countries are also possible. Once you find him, direct your Army men to kill him.
Instant Construction (10)
Issue the Quick-build command on 10 constructions
Purchase a building, and instead of letting the people build it, go to the construction site and select ‘Quick Build’. Repeat this for a total of ten buildings in order to unlock the achievement.

You will unlock this achievement once you complete the campaign Mission 5, ‘Tropico Above All’.

You escaped the wrath of your opponents
You will get this achievement when you complete campaign Mission 8, ‘Survival’.
The Mastermind (30)
Found out who the Mastermind behind your downfall is
You will get this achievement when you finish campaign Mission 17, ‘Forgiveness’.
On Top of the World (50)
Fulfilled Presidente's dreams for Tropico
You will get this achievement when you finish campaign Mission 20, ‘Tropican Utopia’.
Office Space (30)
Have a Babel Tower with 50 employees
You get to unlock the Babel Tower in 1996. After that, build it under Welfare & Economy structures. This will cost you $120,000, plus an upkeep of $120 per month and it requires 50 MW of electricity. Next, hire 50 uneducated foreign employees to fill the building quickly and you will unlock the achievement.
Better Than Tenements (30)
Have a Ziggurat with 50 families as tenants
You get to unlock Ziggurat in 1994. After that, build it under Housing structures. This will cost you $100,000, plus an upkeep of $150 per month and it requires 100 MW of electricity. You can make it easier by setting the rent for the Ziggurat to $1 and raising the rent for all other types of housing by a big margin. This will help you fill up the Ziggurat more quickly.

Renovate your Palace
There are four requirements you have to meet before you can unlock this achievement. First, you need to reach a population of 250. Second, you need to have at least $20,000 in your Swiss Bank Account. Third, you need to reach 60% in population happiness, and finally, you must pay $20,000 from the Treasury for your ‘Presidency’. Once you complete the last requirement, your palace will quick-upgrade automatically.
Going Green (20)
Build 4 Bio Farms and 4 Organic Ranches in a single mission
Bio Farms and Organic Ranches become available from 1970 to 1975. Ranches will cost you $4000 and farms $5000, without any discounts.
Heaven On Earth (20)
Build a Diamond Cathedral before 1990
You get to unlock the Diamond Cathedral around 1988. It will cost you $40,000 to build and unlock the achievement.
A Better Tourist Trap (30)
Build an Aerodrome and a Seven-star hotel in a single mission
You will unlock the Seven-Star hotel in 1979 to replace the High-Rise Hotel. It will cost you $30,000 to build. The Aerodrome unlocks in 1983 to replace the Airport. It will cost you $24,000. Once you have both, the achievement will unlock.
