What do you think Microsoft can do to turn their horrible start around?

I think what Microsoft needs to do is remove the Kinect from the system, and price it at $400 like the PlayStation 4. Microsoft needs to ditch the entertainment niche, and focus on a lot of exclusive games.

A lot more! More than ever before. They need to show gamer's that they have learned their lesson, and they are committed to changing things. If they do not do this their failure is only going to get worse.

What do you think Microsoft should do?

I think that it should enable the DRM already and pay some companies to release a few good exclusives!

Hmm...basically what AB said. Make the Xbox a game console again in short. On a side note, allow you to use some subscribe apps like Netflix without needing Live Gold. I'm sure it's a bother for others and the PS4, Wii U, Vita, 3DS all allow for you to do this. Even the Ouya allows you to use your subscribe service without needing a magical internet key.

I agree AB they need to stick exclusively to gaming. I think that they are trying to capture a market that they do not have. How about focusing solely on he hardcore video gamers that buy your consoles. Honestly I only use my PS3 to go on Netflix I don't need that same feature on my Xbox. It's almost like the Xbox one does not stand out in any specific way to the PS4. Give us what we want and that is video games at an affordable price.

Keep supporting it with exclusives. Drop the bull**** requirements that drive indies away. Give incentives for companies to release games on X1 instead of 360.

stop allowing developers to release 360 games... and start supporting the xbox one..

xbox one is not next gen... it is this gen now... 360 is last gen... all games built for 360 should also be released on xb1... and i dont care about an emulator... stop allowing developers to release 360... phase it out... enough games are on 360.. keep the network alive but lets get on the same page.

To focus back on what made them sell a lot back then: gaming. Still, you have to convince them to get out of that "all-in-one" vibe. They're so hellbent in trying to make the Xbox One to be the one that saying that they have to ditch the entertainment niche is like telling them to abandon the plans they've had for years. PS4 has pretty much done their part in alluring gamers 'cuz it's not the all-in-one. But MSFT wants to make it.

Yup,I agree. Enough with the requirements already. Why restrict them? They're developers man! They're not some pet you can order to do things. They're human!

They should definitely keep supporting the 360 games for a while. I still want to play some Dead Rising 2...

That's a bit harsh but true, in fact. Stop making 360 games, go to the X1 and boom! Sales go high! Of course, that's not going to be easy. And yeah, about the emulator.... geez, enough with that. I agree with you.

I could not agree more.

I really don't know what Microsoft was thinking with the Xbox One. Especially when you consider their original plan. Of a mandatory internet check-ins, plus DRM games. I can't help but think that Microsoft has lost their minds.

Did they really think that people would go for that? I am glad that the PlayStation 4 is out selling the Xbox One. Microsoft needed to learn a lesson.

i didn't say stop supporting it.. i said stop allowing new games to be released on it.
the servers and such can stay open no problem.

we are almost a year into xb1 with little to no games to show for it(from launch).. and yet new 360 games come out and are being announced... yet xb1 games are still projected as late 2014 and being pushed back to 2015.
number compared to the 78m 360 consoles sold over its lifetime... its till 1/4 of xbox1 console sales from launch till december 2013.(i cant find the numbers of consoles sold total.) that same 1.7m i just games not bundled consoles/game ect ect..

so take titanfall... dont release it on 360... guess what you just sold almost 2 million more consoles.. if they did like target and dropped the price to 550 with game+12month of gold its a killer deal.. in fact it makes it cheaper than ps4 as a whole..

microsoft is doing a good job of updates and generally supporting itself... but little to no apps are new.. sure we get a talk about go-pro app, external hard drive, ability to stream from computer, more tv apps, but we have not seen it yet.. every day in the feeds its what is comming... directx12.. over a year out.. in the end we still have new 360 apps hitting the market..

so again xb1 is this gen its now... 360 is last gen... leave it alive but stop the support and give the xb1 things to do.. and people will want it..

Incentives for making games for Xbox One seems more reasonable than just trying to phase out the 360. There's 10s of millions of Xbox 360s out there compared to the Xbox One which hasn't hit 10 million. That's a bad business decision not to entertain the larger base. You can release a game to the Xbox One base and it's nowhere near a guarantee that the almost 4 million will ALL buy that particular game. Your chances are far better to put it out on X1 and 360--especially 360.

Did they really think that people would go for that? I am glad that the PlayStation 4 is out selling the Xbox One. Microsoft needed to learn a lesson.

I'm thinking Microsoft was just pleased with what they sold worldwide out the gate--nevermind that Sony did that in 2/3 of a continent out the gate--and feel they have some trump cards in the winds that can put them ahead or close.

Go with what worked in the past and stick with that approach. Sometimes less is more and this may be the case. They got away from what worked for them.

I guess they need to step up just to catch up with the competition.

I don't know about getting rid of the Kinect and "entertainment system". I honestly know of A LOT of people who chose to go with the Xbox One for the simple fact that it is an all in one system. I think to increase their sales they need to get more "exclusive" games.

Exactly what everyone wants. We want new exclusive games
