Xbox One includes Kinect gestures for Internet Explorer browsing

Hey guys!
Just checked out the official Xbox One site, and found this - news.xbox.com/2013/11/xbox-one-internet-explorer
What are your thoughts on the subject? According to my experience with the latest PC version, IE is seriously down by productivity\capabilities\design\support
Will this be an issue in Xbox as well, or do you think they will figure something out?

PS. I am considering to order the X1, but such things make me doubt.
 
Actually, I may be in the minority, but I enjoyed having IE on the Xbox 360. It wasn't the best browsing experience (video sites not fully supported, sluggish navigation, other quirks) but it did allow me to surf on the net without being tethered to a computer or a smart device. I could game, take a break and surf and go back to gaming. Yes, you could do that with a smart device, however, you're talking a bigger screen (in most cases). I just hope they allow for other device connections such as an external keyboard and even possibly a mouse.

I am hoping instead of mouse and keyboard they incorporate kinect more... mouse is kinect motion and keyboard is your mouth. I dont want my gaming console to be a minipc, I want an entertainment device that incorporates my tv, internet, games, movies, etc with cool technology (kinect). My pc destroys the x1 and ps4 in graphics and gaming....

Seems pretty cool, their talking about kinect and webpage links. They go a bit deeper than that. kinect2.0 i shaping up to be something very cool. its still scary as all get out with spying ect ect. but the capabilities are sweet. hope it all works out and it runs decent.

Similar to the Kinect dashboard navigation, you can hover over links on a webpage and simply gesture to click on them. If there’s a number of links close to each other then Internet Explorer will zoom in to make it easier to pick between them. The voice controls are also improved, allowing Kinect users to scroll up and down, browse to, or click on pages. If you have The Verge in your favorites then you can simply say "Browse to The Verge" without having to repeat the full URL.

I would really be happy if all the features would be implemented. Browing the net with Kinect, what can be better?
 
I really hope it would be as perfect as it is meant to be.The technology behind is extremely powerful, allowing to invest in future with high expectation. Love it!
 
Hoping I'm still able to use a keyboard for IE. I'm ok waving my hand for navigation, but typing, I prefer a keyboard.

lol. i hope also. Kinect is cool, nothing to say against. But really, normal control would be must. I am sure most will be fed up waving hands constantly to check mail or some forums.
 
Ok, for folks concerned with having Kinect "watch" them, you can simply put something in front of the camera or unplug the device.

I think that would be the slightest bit counterproductive when you're trying to use the motion gestures. I doubt they'll be monitoring households and keeping records of everything you do though, Microsoft aren't that evil.

as well as sending live-stream video straight to microsoft, logging your browsing history and comments. Then don't be surprised when you get extremely good video "suggestions" loool

I think Bing (Microsoft) will be making the experience as user friendly and satisfying as possible. I have a good feeling about this and the fact that they are integrating the Kinect with browsing is a wonderful idea. I see this taking off hugely. Next thing you know, browing using your Xbox One is going to be more common that browsing on your PC or MAC. I wouldn't worry about the spying too too much, Bing and Google use your results to make searching easier for you, arguably searching becomes very biased and narrow, but that's a discussion for a totally different forum lol
