Of course there will be a debate between the Xbox One and PS4 but what about the PC? Being that next gen console hardware is getting closer and closer to using actual PC components I think it's only fair to have an Xbox One Vs PC thread. Personally I'll buy the new Xbox but my heart will always be with my PC.

Even with the advances the One and PS4 will make, they will still be way, way behind PC. The advancement by the One and PS4 will close the gap some initially, but the PC market is always evolving while the One and PS4 stay as they are. In a few months, the gap will again be enormous and in a few years they won't even be comparable.

I've always looked at PC vs. Console as Apples vs. Oranges. You really can't compare the two as they are such different entities. Games might overlap, but the specs on a PC are and always will be considerably better than anything the consoles can offer.

Yeah, try as they might consoles just wont be able to keep up hardware wise. By the time the One is released (actually already now) there will be PC's that can outmatch it in all aspects of what it does. That being said, the advantage consoles have over PC's is most games a developed on/for them. And sometimes specifically for them and not for PC at all, like Red Dead Redemption.

Another thing to consider is price. While the new Xbox One will hover around the $400-$500 mark a base line "gaming" pc (assuming it's not a homebuilt system) would hover around $1000. I actually think it's the price that keeps most people away from seeing how far superior pc gaming is.

Having just built a gaming PC, I think the most likely scenario is I won't get a One for a while. I love new technology and gaming, I'll definitely stay up to speed on it. I don't tend to jump on the bandwagon quickly with new consoles though, there will have to be some compelling stuff to really get me onboard.

@JRFlurry, I don't think that's true anymore. I built mine for under $500 and it runs all the latest games on max that I've tried so far.

PC gaming will always be the best choice for 90% of the times (then there are the exclusives titles that still can't be emulated, at least now).

But even better is if you have the available income to buy every single console!

I did say "assuming it's not a homebuilt system" ;-)

Where's the fun in not building your system! But I see your point, if you don't it is practically like buying another console. The parts will probably be overpriced, and under-sustainable for more than a few years, etc.

Consoles only advantage is the way larger screen and the ease of accessibility. Other than that, the PC out performs the console in most regards and is the only option for truly hardcore gamers in my opinion. But there are plenty of great games as console exclusives and to not own a console would mean that you miss out on so many amazing games that only owning a PC is doing yourself a disservice, unfortunately.

Personally I need a gaming PC, I've been meaning to get the parts to build one up for myself but I just have never got around to it. I agree though, a console game will not beat a PC game in terms of graphical output, there is just too much modding available with a PC so that it is always above par. I really think the two consoles are going to be awesome, but PC gaming still comes out on top.

Sticking with the PC on this as well. Even though the Xbox One is offering options that are available on the PC like voice chat, or TV, I still think PC is better. More options to choose from, more games that are available, etc.

Though I have a lot of games installed in my PC, I still have more time playing on my home consoles. Though I think that the PC would be more flexible when it comes to gaming, the Xbox One would be a lot more enjoyable experience. I see myself playing more Xbox One games than PC games every single day.

I always prefer gaming on console over PC. I just think that gaming on your PC is fun for about maybe ten minutes or so. But gaming on your console just feels more like true, genuine gaming experience.

There is something that will always be nice about just kicking back on your couch in front of the big screen TV and playing a game. A computer can't really compete with that, I've tried using laptops with lap-desk things to kick back on my couch and play a PC game, but it never quite feels right. The laptop is too low and you strain your neck looking down. If you prop the laptop up, then your keyboard wrist is at a weird angle. I could never find a perfect solution. Also, for playing 2-player+ games in person with your friends, you can't beat a console either.

AMEN BROTHER. Not to mention gaming in your recliner or your couch is good for your back and overall posture. I always find myself hunched over more than I want to be when on my desktop or laptop. The less time I can spend hunched over or anyone can spend hunched over for that matter, is better in the long run for them.

I think, and I will always think, that PC gaming is far superior to console gaming. You can use controllers or your keyboard, you can add new components if your rig is getting laggy and you can use a PC for many, many more things than a console can.

Sure, it's nice having a dedicated gaming console directly to your TV for when you want to relax on the sofa, but you can do that and so much more with a PC. It wins hands down for me.

I've always been a huge fan of PCs. I like consoles as well and was an exclusive console gamer at one point, until I was introduced to online gaming. I believe they're both great in their own regards, so you can't really say one is really better than the other. It's all down to preference. I know people that will defend PC to their graves and people that will defend console gaming. I'm neutral and don't believe one is greater than the other, I just personally find myself enjoying PC gaming more as it's more accessible for myself, due to not having a lot of money.

If you are thinking from a pure gaming perspective a PC offers a completely different experience....you are directly in front of a monitor, which can certainly be a more immersive experience. A console, I don't feel, was ever meant to usurp that experience. Consoles offer the relaxed, couch, friends and family experience. Microsoft and Sony both realized last generation that they could add value to that type of experience(couch, friends, family) with non-game content. Netflix, ESPN, a full movie library to purchase and rent movies from...this was the kind of thing that would make someone who isn't really a gamer buy a console.

So really for me, it will always be too different animals, not only in the gaming experience (PC = personal/immersive, Console = social/casual), but also in terms of breadth of user experiences. Sure you could watch a movie on Netflix on your computer, or hook your computer to your TV but most consumers aren't going to do that, or take the time to figure out how to when a console could do all they want for them.
