I've heard some rumors that the Xbox One might have dedicated servers for multiplayer games. The days of hosting games on your, or someone else's console might be over. Is there any truth to this rumor?
It seems like this rumor is a bit unrealistic given the sheer number of servers they'd need for big games such as the new Call of Duty. However, there were reports that the new Call of Duty would allow larger games and maps with some speculating we might see 13x13 games and even larger competitions. This sort of large game would almost have to be on a dedicated server.
Obviously, this should help lag and latency (it won't ever be perfect, but it'd help), but I struggle to see either Microsoft or Sony investing in dedicated servers for multiplayer games.
