Hello everyone, I'm MetalSwift (Swift or Metal works...unless there's another Metal already). I came over from the sister forum. Haze said it was like home--friendly and all that--so I decided to see what all the hub bub was about.
I started gaming in the late 1980s and got my first console in the 1991 (an NES) and that really sealed my love of gaming. My dad was big into platformers and would leave the console on to keep his progress, so we'd have to go outside and play.
...in Alabama fog.
The first game I remember seeing was Castlevania and the first one I actually got to play was Skate or Die. That was no good for a 5 year old. As a matter of fact, I played it years later and realized it was no good for a 20-something year old either. At least Skate or Die 2 had that intro music.
I like RPGs, open world games, strategy titles, beat 'em ups, and (music, wrestling booking, business) sims. I really prefer older games.
I don't care for most racing games, modern FPS' (I can get into a Doom, Wolf 3D, Duke Nukem on N64, and Unreal...my brother says I'm good at them and I played Unreal all the time with my graphic design class in the days, just don't care for them), and sports games (I've noticed no cliff hangers on the franchise/season mode where the Super Bowl ends with :30 left and the credits roll).
Oh and water levels...mainly because of two water-related mishaps(?). I've heard the Sonic drowning theme in every water level I've played since 1995 even though there was no threat of drowning in the game.
Most of the modern games I have now are on the 360. Right now I'm bouncing among Prototype, Dragon Age Origins, and Skyrim.
Outside of gaming, I'm a heavy metal fan (Darkthrone, Bathory, Running Wild, and Immortal are my favorites), my favorite comic book character is Taskmaster, a wrestling fan since 1994, a Japanese pro wrestling fan since 2000, my favorite anime is a tie between Robotech and Speed Racer, I still believe Reaper and Xena will return.
I hope to be around here for a long time!
