Xbox One PS4 soars ahead of the Xbox One in Sales Battle

That choice of MSFT to not enter every market is really really weird.
It's the sort of decision that can snowball into complete disaster.
Game developers will want to have their games available on as many markets as possible and they can only get that on PS4, which means that more and more people buy PS4's in every market, since that's where all the games are.

While your point is valid, realistically MSFT is well aware which markets they will absolutely lose in. They consciously decided to wait in those markets as they would rather meet demand in other regions. In North America, where they dominated last gen, they're losing by a wide margin. Imagine had they entered Japan at launch.

In North America Microsoft is nowhere near the sales gap the PS3 was behind the Xbox 360. Its not a wide margin and could be made up with a good price adjustment.

Sony must have put in more efforts to market PS4 due to their huge losses. For them it's a question of survival and to survive, a company can do anything. In any case, many first time gamers could have gone with the PS4 which could have increased their sales.

When you back your competition into a corner they react aggressively. Sony did just that for the launch of this gen and now MSFT needs to react. Luckily for us, gamers, we benefit from the animosity.

Yeah the more they compete with each other the better benefits we get from it.

Yeah, I know dude. guess that's what we will really get if we're lucky.

Well, the customers have always had an advantage when it comes to sales wars. I really wish Microsoft could make something amazing again!

It's less than a year since their release, there is still plenty of time for MS to rebound so don't put it down just yet. Whatever it is, it's good to put MS on their toes so that they won't bring back those ridiculous policies. Competition is good so I hope that the X1 is going to catch up and put some pressure on PS so that neither of them will slack off.

Does anyone think that what Microsoft said when they were asked about what they were going to do for the people who didn't have internet made an impact on the sales? I have a friend who does not have internet connection and once that was said he was never going to buy an Xbox One.

Well I think Microsoft knows that they're falling behind, the mere fact that they cut down price on the Xbox is an indication that they want to get close with the PS4. I'm sure Microsoft will try to do something once E3 comes into place, and hopefully they do.

But since they have no presence in those markets, when they eventually decide to, they will be a lot more behind Sony, I think it would be better to have at least *some* presence.
The snowball effect I mentioned is only aggravated by Sony being the only option for many people.

The pressure is definitely on Microsoft to make a huge splash at E3 this year. I'm with everyone else though, competition is great for the market, and gamers. I can't wait to see what happens.

It isn't looking good for Xbox as of right now. I'm hoping that they'll get more sales. I would definitely like to see Xbox kick PS4's butt, but I have to say that the PS4 turned out a lot better than I originally thought it would.

I think it's too early to tell. Xbox 1 is definitely still in the fight against the PS4. The launch was ugly for the One. There's no denying that. But I think the One has the ability to comeback if they can get more exclusives and third party support. the next Halo 5 may have the ability to win or lose the battle for the One.
