What's the next-gen Nintendo DS Handheld going to be?

Nintendo obviously owns the dedicated handheld gaming market (I say "dedicated" to filter out all the mobile-phone "gamers"). With the Wii U tablet controller kinda showing what they've been focusing on, what to do you think they are planning to cater to their existing/established DS user base? Are they going to keep hacking out moderately updated DS offerings, or truly give us a next generation device?

Do you hope they keep the 3D or ditch it?

(I know it would never happen, but I personally would love a DS "phone". One that is a phone first, then DS game console second. Kinda like Sony did with their Experia Play phones.)
