I've owned three different 360s in the past few years, yet I've never had a RRoD.
I know that the problem was worst with early models of the Xbox, and I didn't get one until a couple of years after, so that may have been a factor. But after about 18 months my first Xbox suffered a problem with the disc drive not reading games any more, so it had to be taken back. We then got a replacement which was fine. About 6 months after that, I moved out to go to university, and left the Xbox behind (I shared it with my brother, and somehow the fair thing to do was leave it and buy a new one myself - go figure). When Skyrim came out I bought a pre-owned 360 from Amazon for about £100, which has been fine, although it makes a lot of noise (I think it's the power supply whirring or something). It's very much close to death, I can tell, but I've never had the RRoD.
I just found it strange that none of my consoles have suffered it, yet the RRoD seems to claim a lot of consoles.
